He can play in any of the front four positions and is much more of a "cut-inside" type of player than a "get to the byline" one, so saying "we're not in for a winger" while apparently accurate, doesn't really discount the possibility of his signing for us.

I know that we had enquired for him earlier in the window but it seems to have gone quiet. Cortese seems to be focusing on a striker (Osvaldo or Damiao) which could be our only target for the rest of the summer. Who knows though, he may sign tomorrow.

Scott Sinclair and a decent striker, and I would be over the moon with this transfer window. Wow.

I've seen basically nothing of Osvaldo and Leandro, so really can't comment on who I'd prefer. Although I can't say that these stories about the former being a bit of a hit head are exactly attracting me to him.

Thought Isgrove might get a look in this season?
Banega and Osvaldo/ Damaio surely are still the main targets?

I also hope Isgrove will be making the step up this season. He could do a Shaw and save us a small wedge.

I can't help feeling if Isgrove was seen as first-team material he'd have been given more than a single year's contract. Bit puzzling, that.

I'm hoping the idea is to use his short-term contract as a carrot to entice some quality performances out of him if he really wants to stay.

I personally don't quite think he'll make the step up as I haven't seen enough at youth level but I'd absolutely love to be proven wrong.

This pre season tour is big for Isgrove & Chambers.
Letting Richardson go and not signing a replacement is a great show of faith and a signal that a role in the squad is there if you want it and can do it.

If Isgrove has done enough this last few weeks then old targets like Sinclair will be ignored. Spend our money on starters and get the squad depth from the academy.

I read the Times and listen to Radio4 (except in the middle of the night when I listen to Radio5live) so what chance do I have?

I never know anything important or a bit spicy.

I doubt Saints would have taken Isgrove on tour if he had no chance of making the first team. They could have given the opportunity to somebody else. My guess is that they have hopes, but aren't sure, so Mauricio wanted to see him up close.
