The British media want Bale gone as it weakens a potential challenger to United. It's also why they don't want Suarez going to Arsenal. They want status quo maintained to market their brand.
Bravo!...very good post, I'd only add yeah, 80 mill on a load of average that'll leave us coming up short again, I just don't see that as any compensation for the loss of Bale, he's irreplaceable, we give what he wants, give it a good crack and try and keep him as long as poss, its sheer madness to talk of early sale.
Regarding Soldado - apparently levy wasn't happy that they went public over the deal (trying to drum up more interest in order to get someone to meet the buy out clause). So as it stands we are still negotiating and it's just the fee instalments we need to sort out. - we're not meeting the buy out clause though from what I've read.
From Gards on twitter. (David bentley's sisters boyfriend I think. Right SOS?!) "Ok so from 2 sources that are not my trusted reliable ones have told me that soldado is done & an announcement expected tonight or tomorrow". - 9 hours ago.
Well looks like Ade is off to Besiktas if they get their European bar sorted. Bit concerned if he goes and we miss out on Soldado that there isn't much left in the market.
I honestly don't think we'll miss Soldado now. Their board members have been quoting things like "he may well leave". - These sorts of things aren't said unless a deal is close. AVB has also made our interest known to the media, even if it was just as little as saying "he's aplayer we're interested in." At the end of the day, it boils down to the fact that they need the money. We're serious and they know they can't refuse what will be a good offer from us, even if it's not quite what they wanted. I'll be amazed if this deal doesn't go through now, for everyone's sake.
Liverpool will only buy if Suarez leaves and at the moment they seem intent on snubbing Arsenal and Real *spit* Madrid don't seem in any great hurry to even submit a bid. By the time all that is done, if they do indeed sell, then we should hopefully have it all sorted. Maybe. GAAAAAAHHHHHH! Just sign him already!
If liverpool sell Suarez, they'll have a **** load of cash to spend. But I agree OSS, I think it'll all be too late to get Soldado. However, they'll bring in someone awesome with that money. Brendan rogers will probably use that to secure a proven goalscorer, an up and coming youngster, and probably snap up Christian Eriksen too. when you consider how many games suarez has been banned for, it might not actually be too bad for Liverpool if he does go. Yes he's quality, but he's also a liability.
Sure is mate. I'm feeling really positive about Soldado, nothing to do with what the ITK's have said but I genuinely believe that come Monday or Tuesday, Soldado will be our new number 9.
I think we matched it. Wasn't he on £65k at West Ham? Pretty sure that's what I've read he's on here at Spurs too. That was initially why Levy was hesitant in buying, the fact Parker was 30+ and on high wages.
Not the biscuit bloke, the other Icelandic owner - the one with a brewery that was strongly linked with the Russian mafia. According to this he was on £60k per week at Wet Spam, and we were saying he needed to take a pay cut to join us at the time we were in negotiations.
I'd rather have Soldado because it makes us continue to look like we have ambition. I'd rather have Ade to stay in budget, and because Bale was brilliant when he played behind him. I'd rather we have one or the other to have any hopes of a CL spot this year. From what I gather, Soldado would make a 4-3-3 more likely, which would be good as it gives a starting place to Demblele, Paulinho and Sandro. It's hard to imagine sitting any of them when healthy. It's also clear it would be Soldado, Bale and somebody in front. I'd take Gylfi, I think, for being the best passer. I don't know if that team would work, but I sure wouldn't want to play against it.
Apparently Soldado not playing tonight, this could be because he only had his first training session today mind.
