I'm sure that was a tongue in cheek comment and in reality I think we are all know that every transfer targets a player that will add quality to our style of play. I think it will all become clear when the season starts but I think you can forget about traditional wingers. The full backs will become wing backs but the deep cross rather than the cut back is going to suit our attackers more. Rickie will make way for J Rod in a couple of years time and their role will be to lay off for a whole host of attacking midfield players capable of scoring. We will also have the fluid passing movement through the middle which will bring the best out of Lallana, Gaston and J Rod in his current role. Set pieces will be different again and that is when we will see the likes of Wanyama and Lovren adding a goal threat.

I think we have all we need now for a successful season but one more signing like Banega or Damaio would truly be the icing on the cake.

What's the forum's take on the new Scott Sinclair rumour?
I think 'Yes, go for it', especially the loan option (with a first option to buy). If he can stay injury-free, he would be a good addition in my view

Rachel, do you have a link or source for the latest rumour. I saw him linked to Everton this morning and with his girlfriend being NW based if think he'd prefer that.

On him, I'm unsure. He looked young and hungry at Wigan and early on at Swansea but with both clubs I thought he was incredibly selfish and made wrong decisions on when to go it alone too often. I also have this nagging doubt about his character, solely based on the fact I would doubt anyone wanting to be with that young lady!

Our full backs are very good but are limited by the wingers ahead of them, I don't feel we got consistent overlap because lallana and puncheon aren't fast, direct or creative enough. Bring on a wideman that is at least one of those and we will see much more potency from our fullbacks.

The away swinging deep cross is pretty ineffectual, we got goals from guly, gaston, puncheon and lambert cutting back onto their preferred foot and putting in a cross from about the corner of the penalty box but these crosses were swinging towards the goal. A cross from deep from a fullback will be swinging away from goal and will be much easier to defend. A fullbacks cross will be much more effective if it's from the byeline see clyne's cross to rickie against chelsea. We scored a lot of goals from crosses but i'm pretty sure none of these were from a fullback crossing from deep.

I would consider bringing in a proper winger and give the fullback freedom to run inside the winger like baines does, this would be far more threatening than the current situation where the fullback doesn't have enough space to break through and put in a good cross. As I already said better widemen will mean a better attacking performance from our fullback, if lallana and whoever else can step up we will be a vastly better side. Our widemen were our weaklink last season and have been since chamberlain left imo. What a side we would have if he had have stuck around

Dated March...I think we would have heard more about it by now if he was a serious target.

He split from Helen Flanagan after that lads' holiday 'sexting scandal'. So maybe he actually wants to get away from the NW? Mind you, West Brom are also interested (apparently).

Well he's French and getting him on loan would be a cheap Ashley move. Can't see why they are interested tho.......... :p

Couple of comments from Pochettino on outward transfer rumours...

On Lambert - "This is a surprise. I didn’t know there was any interest in him. We are happy with Rickie and count on him."

On Gaston - "I just listen to Gaston, not his agent. Gaston is happy here and we expect him to stay."

Will probably get City to subsidise his wages to get him out the door.

Sinclair is a good player but really haven't got the impression we were after a winger even though many supporters feel it is a weak area for us.
