How pre season should look with a playmaker: Good to take stock of what we have Harold ... bury your ego mate and man manage ffs
Taarabt could be a real difference for us. If Harry can sort out the issues and get him onside I think he will be a massive asset for us this season
We don't know the full story but if Harry hasn't done his best to get the best out of Adel it is bordering on being criminal.
Is no one fed up with how downright disrespectful Adel is though? disrespectful to us as fans more than anything. Having said that there is sporadic magic in those boots. Anyone who thinks he is going to exactly replicate his previous Championship form may be disappointed though, I can't see lightening striking twice.
It's being reported today that Adel has trained just twice since the start of preseason. I've every sense he's throwing toys from his pram faster than the eye can see. He's a complex character and needs adulation and love. He got that from NW, in the Championship anyway. He won't get it from Harry, whose attitude to a player is - show what you can do for me, rather than, let me show you what I can do for you. Both are too proud to back down. But if Adel doesn't have a club coming in for him with a good offer, he could have a miserable season with us if he doesn't buckle down and conform to the Redknapp regime.
Exactly, I imagine it's difficult to get the best out of a player who doesn't turn up to practice, another Adel topic! I wish the club would just sort this out once and for all so we can move on. Last time I post on and Adel thread until we know one way or another, it's just the same stuff constantly being regurgitated.
I feel like I'm in the minority but I feel it's about time we parted ways with Adel. He's no doubt an amazing talent but building a team around him isn't the way forward. We've done it before and he failed to prove himself in the Premiership it all fell apart. He doesn't seem too eager to stay and it's about time we built a team that wasn't completely reliant on the tubby magician. As amazing as that promotion season was it's just a memory now and it really is time to move on.
I won't pretend (unlike some) to know what's gone on behind the scenes but I know that we won't get anyone who can pass and make through balls like him.
You need a captain to lead by example, last time he was captain in name only, it won't work with this squad...
I agree; it would again be in name only. But it would give him the attention he appears to crave.....
Warnock tippytoed around Adel for one season, but even he gave up in the end. Hughes seemed to bring the best out of Adel, about the only positive from that period. But Rednapp is old school and there's no way he's going to treat anyone with kid gloves, and quiet rightly. The one with the flaw is Adel, no blame should be placed on Harry here, Adel has always seen himself as bigger than QPR. We all say that's the kind of player we don't want at our club, but some seem to really try hard to ignore this in Taarabt's case. Ideally He'd stop being a prat and realise if he wants to be the player he thinks he is, he has to change. But he wont! So do fans really want Harry to have to battle with Adel week in and out trying to get him to behave? What's that going to do to team spirit? It's a crying shame that such a talent can be such a prat in equal measures, but he is what he is and that unfortunately is a giant sized pain in the arse for his manager. I just think it's time to accept he's never going to be what we want him to be, and maybe it's time to get a fee while we still can.
No-one in their right mind would risk a big fee on Adel now, he was at his most saleable when Harry took over and we would've got a decent price for him in January, that's long-gone now and we'd be lucky to get £4-5 Million for him now and Spurs will get nearly half...
There's some truth in these comments and I sometimes find myself thinking the same things. However, I also see a team lacking in incisive passing and the ability to play a killer ball. Adel's got his faults, but ideally I'd like to see him in a Rangers shirt this up-coming season. Torn, basically.
But didn't it pay off? Adel was the best player in the Championship and more instrumental than any of our other players in getting us promoted. NW didn't exactly give up - he was seduced by names like Barton and Wright-Phillips and lost interest in Adel. And Adel took the bus. With careful handling, Taarabt could be an amazing player for any club. But it won't be us because, as you say, Harry's old school. He and Adel are both stuck up there on their high horses
On the money and a sad story ... I love football Adel Taarabt gives us that and at the moment is a QPR player. I agree that we don't know the details but I would prefer to believe that Harold has forced him out ... yes he isa **** but Adel can play and I don't care what he does outside game play. The club are saying nothing about Adel because they expect a backlash from us fans ... I won't forgive them for that ... it's been mis handled and I ask again to this board ... How many has Harold mishandled due to his own ego?
For those who are in any doubt about what this player means to QPR: Watch what he can do against the European champions when we played them away: You want positive ... strip off and oil up and get your glow sticks out on the dance floor : Best player on the pitch that night ... too ****ing right
If Adel won't knuckle down and do what the current manager wants, then he needs to go. Yes, he's the best player we've had in terms of raw talent and skill since Stan, but if he won't train or toe the line then it doesn't matter. Football is a team game and needs people to play the role in the team that is given to them. Note I'm saying nothing either way about the rights and wrongs of the current manager, because it doesn't matter. I'm not going to tell Harry what to do, or be a "Monday morning quarterback" ( as I believe the cousins call it). I just understand that the success of a plan depends on everyone understanding their role and playing their part. If they all do that and it still doesn't work, then you criticise the plan. Shame. I love watching him when he's fit and motivated. When did that last happen? N
