Thing about the Humber Bridge is that us locals tend to become a bit blasé about it as it is just there all the time and we forget what a wonderful construction it is. We slipped down the longest single span league no sooner than it was built but still its a wondrous piece of engineering and on our doorstep. As you enter the Hull area down the A63 coming from Brough the site of the bridge, especially at night, is really awesome, a few more lights on it would make it even better still. I was down the foreshore one night, on the way to the pub, it was high tide and a moonlit night and people were lined along the foreshore taking pictures of the bridge and its reflection in the water, marvellous.
Agreed. Been working in Sunny Scunny for the last 6 months and go across it twice a day. Brilliant feeling and view. Coming home Thursday bout 5ish the tide was out christ never seen so much sand. Knew you could walk it but still
Don't suppose you got to Scunny on the bus (350) Chaz but I have been a couple of times and the bus takes an age to get to Scunny. But if you have the time, about an hour 20 mins or so the bus goes all over the place and at times runs parallel with the Humber and you get a totally different view of the bridge from south of the river. And I agree about the sand, again even more amazing about the amount from that side of the river.

Overall it is but the official length is measured between the towers and on that measurement the Humber Bridge is longer

Doesn't qualify I'm afraid, the list is single span suspension bridges and PVdG only has a small bridge and the rest in a road on stilts.
Agreed! When I come home, I'm coming off the Lincolnshire Wolds and look for the towers of the Bridge. Then, when I'm crossing, I love the sight of the city, stretching east along the Humber. Brilliant. I always call the Humber 'Big Muddy'.
No in the car mate. Been in a few houses looking out on the river on the south bank and its a brilliant view.
