Just an interesting point - if Bale is sold to Real Madrid, despite Spurs buying out our sell-on fee, we'd still be entitled to up to 5% as a solidarity payment for under-23 players sold between ages of 12-23. We'd get a pro-rata payment as he left us at 17, but on a fee of 80m we'd still get about 2m from it. I know it's not a big thing in the grand scheme, but still nice to have, I'm sure!

 

Who cares which ones better? Can we just sign someone now!! It's been 2 weeks since we've signed someone

 

i don't think he is a completely different type of player? I'm not on my laptop so I can't back it up with stats but I'm fairly sure he works as a lone forward with Lamela and Totti in support, I don't see how his actual style of play is significantly different. Damiao plays alongside another pure striker in Forlan for Internacional so Osvaldo is probably a better fit due to understanding of the role. I think both would fit about the same, I've just seen a LOT more from Osvaldo. He's very good as it is, while Damiao is good but not great in a significantly weaker league. Damiao has the potential and all that but he's 24, it's no sure thing he'll significantly improve - and as far as I'm concerned, he'd need to improve significantly to match Osvaldo.

 

Alex Crook (yeah, I know) - has been at training today and spoke to Pochettino and a few of the players.

He says Pochettino would be happy to start with the season with the current squad. We're looking at one more main signing, a striker.

 

Confirmed - Hooper signs for Celtic on a 3 year deal. Decent business I think by Norwich. Will score goals and only cost £5M.

 

Not going to read too much into that, Pochettino is hardly going to cast his eyes around at the squad and reply, "we're doomed, doomed I tell thee!"

 

Dickov confirms Doncaster have enquired about taking Billy Sharp on loan this season.

 

Sorry Dickov, you buy him or get lost.

 

He'd be crap on this board in that case!

 

Can't see Saints or Billy wanting to go out on loan again this season.

 

I'm sure he'd be happy to if it meant he got games, but I'd imagine it would be a last resort for the club.

 

I think he deserves better than Doncaster aswell though.

 

Ryan Dickson has now joined Colchester.

 

Must be a relief for him to get to a club where he might even make the reserves!

Yeah would be a good move for him I think, and would be nice for us to send them a player for a change!

 

He could give them the same as Hooper did for a fraction of the cost, if no cost. I'd be delighted for Billy to end up there.

 

I still don't understand what happened with Billy. I would understand if he'd tried and failed in the PL, but will never understand why he was left in the cold without even a chance.
