Is this the same team that lost 7-0 to Arsenal??? yet you choose to use Liverpool's score why is that???
I meant from a player's perspective. Obviously we need to do these things for the reasons you've stated + comply with FFP but there was no real need to run up the score like that. Once it got to 4-0 the players should have taken the foot off the gas. The club will benefit from the tour of Asia but the team won't. With so many absentees and playing against poor opposition it's impossible to draw many (if any) definitive conclusions.
It's easy to dismiss pre season games when you have a bad one. Don't try and tell me that you can just turn form on and off like a tap.
I still don't think you understand. As a manager, and more importantly Chelsea manager, Mourinho has nothing to prove. He could lose every pre-season game without even as much as a raise of an eyebrow. Every player knows that they can maximise their potential if they take on board his tactics/advice as he has a track recording of winning things AT CHELSEA. Mourinho has far far more leverage than Moyes with both the media and his own players/staff. Every single thing Moyes does will be scrutinised to the nth degree and compared to his predecessor as he won't get the kind of protection from the media Fergie did. Already, questions are being asked about Moyes: - Pre-season losses - Ability to attract marquee players - Training methods If Moyes gets off to a bad start (which isn't inconceivable given your fixture list) expect that pressure to be cranked up tenfold. Don't care what anyone says, it's difficult for anyone to work under that kind of pressure. Considering all the above I don't think any of your attempts to try and send Chelsea fans into panic mode will work. There are many teams including your own that aren't in as good a position as we are.
Don't think there's anything in the preseason games to worry about. They're there to help the squad get match fitness. It would obviously be nice to win, but I don't think the preseason results have an effect on the actual season. I think we did suffer a bit of a blow in our ability to attract marquee players, but that was to be expected when SAF stepped down. The major factor in Man United's appeal is their success. Their success is largely in part to SAF, now that he's gone, we've lost the "I want to play for Fergie" factor. With that said, the only marquee signing we've attempted is Fabregas. As of yesterday that whole transfer was "ongoing" according to Moyes. Barca has apparently said that Cesc isn't for sale, but that really has nothing to do with our ability to attract marquee signings, as it does with Barca being a position where they can just say no and not have to worry about anything else. We still on the training methods?
The 1st Indo keeper was quite good. He pulled off two magnificent saves and had a fair game even though his defence was ****e. The English Al Jazzera commentator pissed me off though with his patronisation of the Indonesian Chelsea fans. If any one is ignorant, it was him. A good friend online of mine was the Chair of the official Chelsea Indonesian supporters club. The commentator condescendingly spoke about how the 'new' Chelsea fans had even learned the club songs. Dickhead. Our fans out there, born out there, know more about Chelsea than a few thousand London based Glory hunters who joined since Roman took over. Of course each tour brings newbie fans, but our Far East support has been large, loud and proud for years now.
Oh that's for sure, we're just saying the same thing a different way. Pre season matches are just that, a way to bring the players back to match fitness, a chance to experiment, a time to look at how kids are developing. With Mata and Co back, the US matches will see our starting line up begin to develop, and a bit more edge come into the play. However I couldn't care less if we win or lose, only that we use the experience to come out firing on all cylinders when it really matters, the first game of the PL.
D Fer, SE Asia is my local holiday destination now Im back in Oz. I can assure you in the last few years there are thousands of little blue shirted, dark skinned ,black haired Lampards, Luizs', Torres, Matas and Hazards running around in Bali, Singapore, Hong Kong etc, even the odd Zola !!!! Talk to any of them and their likewise blue shirted fathers , and you get an instant smile , all the latest transfer gossip, team news and advice on how to set up the team, just like you would in the Fulham Road. These are true fans, committed, and full on. The club has done a great job raising our world profile. Man U and Liverpool have a head start, but we're closing fast.
