Looks like we may finally be getting Marlon Pack. BRISTOL City will consider moving for want-away Cheltenham Town midfielder Marlon Pack to replace the injured Liam Kelly. Out of action for up to nine months after rupturing his cruciate ligament, Kelly is set to undergo surgery early next week. One of City's stand-out performers during pre-season, the former Kilmarnock man will be sorely missed and Robins head coach Sean O'Driscoll has confirmed he is in the market for a replacement. Out of contract, Pack is available for a fee of around £100,000 under the terms of the Bosman Ruling He has already been the subject of two offers from Crawley Town, which have both been rejected by Cheltenham, but would prefer to make a switch to Ashton Gate and is hoping that City will make a firm approach after finding out about their interest earlier this month. O'Driscoll's intention was to move for Pack only if winger Albert Adomah was sold this summer. Although the Ghana international's proposed transfer to FA Cup holders Wigan has so far failed to materialise, Kelly's injury changes everything. When Steven Davies completes his move to Blackpool later today, subject to passing a medical, City will receive around £500,000 for the striker, some of which will be released to enable O'Driscoll to sign a replacement and bolster a midfield department that is low on numbers without Kelly and fellow casualties Marvin Elliott and Stephen Pearson. Pack, 22, still has his best years in front of him and could certainly perform the defensive midfield role assigned to Kelly. O'Driscoll confirmed: "Losing Liam is a blow, and it leaves us light on numbers in that department. "We don't want to rush into anything and make a mistake, but we will need to replace him and that process is already ongoing." http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/BRIS...tory-19572840-detail/story.html#axzz2a88uuQFS This will please many. We truly will have a great young side should we get MP in
He sounds good, so I'd be happy to have him on board. As a side note, to my knowledge we've not made any loan moves this season. I reckon we could fill a ton of gaps with impressionable loanees. Since SOD is clearly a fan of the Arsenal academy I can imagine he has a few contacts there, and he could probably land us one or two good prospects.
Yep its great news. I see us playing him to see where his fitness it rather than to make a judgement. I doubt he needs to be judged on his ability. Will be great to see him finally sign.
memo for 2014 Kelly and Pack together would be a pretty solid midfield, with Jay dropping his bombs in a forward central midfield role (the one Davies would have occupied if he hadnt lost his vision).
I have a feeling we will se a 4 man midfield like reading lan. With Baldock upfront and JET just behind. No doubt that those 3 will be in the middle though
Alistair Durden ‏@alidurdenBBC 15m Marlon Pack is still being paid by Cheltenham, who will be owed compensation as he is under 24. He's been training mainly on his own.

Always has to be the one that proves the rule, one agent who looks out for his client v hundreds of agents who look at their wallets
to be fair adomah does deserve better than league 1 football, so don't blame the agent for pushing through deals
I agree lan. Just being selfish really, Would love Adomah to be here helping us try and achive promotion but he seems destined to leave. One things for sure though he'll always be welcome back here!
I'm surprised your shocked by Kelly being out for 9 months Shiny? 9 months is also being lucky with ACL injuries
I seem to remember that many posters on this site have complained in the past that we tended to go for players who only have lower league experience, and yet here we are pumping up the volume for Marlon Pack. He played for Cheltenham and is also getting attention from Crawley Town, so I ask what is the big deal on this player? The Albert affair is starting to look like our usual commitment to apathy and I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves us for way less money than touted, just like Davies. Yes I know we needed a complete clearout but I wonder why we are doing it in such a haphazard way and still keep some of the culprits who took us down. The only proof as to whether SOD is right will soon come to the eyes of the supporters when the season kicks off and I just hope we are ready.
