No QPR bid for Burnley striker
    .
10:12am Friday 26th July 2013 in Sport Photograph of the Author By Suzanne Geldard, Burnley FC reporter .

QPR have not tabled a bid for Burnley striker Charlie Austin, contrary to reports.

A London-based website yesterday published a story declaring the newly relegated club had made an offer for the 28-goal marksman after missing out on Celtic striker Gary Hooper.

But this is not the case at present.

QPR have been among a list of Austin’s admirers for some time but manager Harry Redknapp is yet to make a move for the former Swindon Town striker, who has 45 goals from 90 games for the Clarets.

That ratio made him a top target for Hull City this summer, but a proposed £4.5million move collapsed earlier this month after he failed a medical.

Nottingham Forest are also monitoring the situation but have yet to lodge a bid.

Austin, 24, has since return to the Clarets fold and started the last three friendlies, the first at the end of their pre-season training camp in Cork.

The club remain keen to retain him beyond the end of his current contract, which expires next summer.

I've just read that and the journo doesn't even know whether Austin is 24 or 28, so I'll ignore the rest of it.

They reckon it was a historical shoulder injury which put Hull Off

Or perhaps this hysterical activity - but he certainly has a knack for scoring goals?

    http://nonaynever.net/15820/charlie-austin-convicted-over-nightclub-assault/

"Burnley striker Charlie Austin was fined after being found guilty of common assault.
The forward was convicted of common assault by magistrates in Swindon yesterday (June 3rd) after an incident in Bushwackers nightclub on October 13th.

Austin denied the charge but was found guilty and ordered to pay a fine of £1,800 and £1,320 in costs.

According to BBC News, Austin said he was acting in self-defence. The 23-year-old striker, who used to play for Swindon Town, punched Sam Webb, 20, in the face.

Mr Webb claimed he disturbed Austin in a toilet cubicle in the club and saw the footballer “hunched over” the toilet bowl. He suspected Austin was taking drugs as he heard a “sniffing sound”.
But Austin vehemently denied any drug-taking, noting it would be the end of his professional career if he was caught, with the FA carrying out random testing.

Mr Webb – a Swindon Town fan – said Austin swung at him in the toilets and missed but then punched him “square in face” and “in revenge” later that night because he was annoyed at being disturbed."

    2010 Swindon banter:-

    http://thetownend.com/index.php?topic=41743.75

"Haha. So Charlie has failed a drugs test yet has been allowed to play, and the FL has taken no action even though half of Swindon (apparantly) knows about it?? Brilliant"

"I'm not even suggesting he doesn't do drugs - I haven't a clue. What I didn't get was how this "news" is supposed to be widespread knowledge in Swindon and how he's (supposedly) been caught yet is still being allowed to play. The guy's clearly talking crap."

No it wasnt, read the direct quotes from Bruce again. We werent fussed about his shoulder injury, we claim it's his knee that's ****ed and was previously undiagnosed.
