there's probably only the one missing link which is, well, a link man between midfield and attack.

and maybe another ball playing centre half, but i'm probably being greedy!
I still would like to see a good back up to Bassong, as I never feel comfortable when he isn't in the squad. Another striker will be good too.

I do feel we've got a good midfield, but sure 1 more won't hurt lol.

But it's all shaping up very nicely now :)

Any serious suggestions for the midfielder? As I keep saying, I would like to see us break the mould in this case and sign an old head. We've got youth and a lot of energy in front of the back five; let's get someone in with the technique and experience to conduct the orchestra.

[Edit] Sorry superman, I hadn't seen your reply to my similar post on the Relegation Watch thread! <ok>

In reply to Robbie I would like to see Shaun Maloney come to us, not massively old (30 I think) think we could get a good couple of years out of him. I believe better than Wes but not sure how much he would cost...

I don't think our midfield is particularly good, it's better but I wouldn't describe as good. Very little variety there.

I would sell Johnson, and Bennett and get three who can pass a ball in the centre (two if he ever thought to play Fox), we don't need anymore advance midfielders, we already have 3.

I really like Snodgrass but if we got a really good bid for him I'd also sell to get something different. I have a feeling Snodgrass could well be spending a lot of time on the bench by Christmas.

You still banging that drum?

I don't think we should sell Johnson because he's actually one of the best in the prem at what he does. He adds real steel defensively and his passing has improved. He is much less liable to be caught on the ball too. I actually think his vision is quite good - he regularly tries through balls and lifting it over the top, it's just his execution that comes up short, which can be practised. We should be able to carry him in midfield. It's no surprise to me that Swansea were interested in him as he is just the sort of midfielder they need. One more ball-playing centre midfielder next to Fer and I think we'd barely notice Johnson's shortcomings.

On Fox - there are rumours that he was pretty ruined for most of the season by glandular fever, which really can have a lasting effect. Given how much he's featured on the US tour and that our team could now cope with his defensive shortcomings, I think we might see more of him.

As for Snodders, not a chance - who else is going to play on the right? I can only assume you would prefer Elliott there.

I would counsel caution.Similar sentiments were coming from QPRcelona a year ago.I still see getting 40 points as first objective.

Here here! Things look to be improving but lets see how players who have not played at this level cope. Optimistic they will do well but consolidation and steadying the ship are still key this season. Anything else will be a bonus

Never know about Johnson, might not be in the plans, remember a midfielder that finished 3rd in the player of the season, integral to our season, never to be seen again.

I had an inkling you might not be very happy tonight
