So Spurs have broken the club transfer record once this summer and could be set to do it again the Soldado.

Spurs did break the British transfer record once. For which player?

    Peters, yes.

Greaves was the most paid by a British club at the time (£100,000 in 1961) but the transfer record relates to fees paid or received by a British club and Law's transfer to Torino six months earlier was the first to reach the £100,000 mark.

Peters was part of a swop deal £55'000 plus Jimmy Greaves , very hard to say who got the best deal out of that. I remember being gutted when I heard Jimmy had left. Seem to remember he scored on the return to the lane

We never saw the real Martin Chivers at the start of his time at Spurs he did his cruciate not long after joining , when he returned he lost some pace but the partnership he formed with Gilzean was the best I had seen in the 70's at the lane.

My feelings about Soldado depend a lot on whether Arsenal land a marquee striker. If they don't, while I would still want Soldado, I don't feel that strongly about it. If they do, I think we need to get him.

Not to wander onto my favorite topic of formation and tactics, but the talk about crosses makes me want to mention that while we didn't cross, we did shoot. We had the most on-target shots in the league.

I like that, incidentally. If you don't shoot, you can't score (well, you can score, actually, but not often).

I had not heard that stat but it fits in with my feeling that an absurd number of goalkeepers tend to have the games of the lives against us. And similarly the complete opposite against Arsenal *cough*Fulop*cough*
When was the last time we benefited from a clanger?

Wigan away near the end of the season. Booted the ball straight into Bale and back into the net. Joel Robles, was it?

Ok, so what we have learned is we score when we don't deserve to and don't when we do. Typical spurs ;)

Mercifully, the Spanish press have an actual news story to report today so don't have to make up stories about Bale to fill the pages...
