So in order for us to get the media to stop hating on an unfashionable team from the dreary north east of England, we should have remained neutral during the civil war, or fight on the side of the royalists...? please log in to view this image
They don't. We simply aren't as high profile as other clubs, and as such attract less coverage. Talksport journo's are deliberately controversial, and they target us as we have a large number of fans who bite making their pointless articles have a point.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has told Sky Sports that player safety was not compromised in Wednesday's pre-season friendlies in Hong Kong. Torrential rainfall meant Tottenham's match with Sunderland was played out on a very wet surface after a half-hour delay and defender Jan Vertonghen may now miss the start of the Premier League season after injuring his ankle. Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas was angry about the state of the pitch but Scudamore says it was right that the Barclays Asia Trophy match, which was followed by a Man City v South China contest, went ahead. "The heavens opened, it was just what we didn't want," said Scudamore. "But we'd thought it all through and had various contingency plans in place. "With modern technology, we had a pretty accurate picture of what the weather was going to do in terms of the storms coming through, so we put the games back half an hour. Right call "The referees made the call, I think it was the right call. Our senior referees, Neil Swarbrick and Anthony Taylor, made the call that it was safe to play, but I think the half-hour gave us a chance because it meant we got both games in. "Yes, I think it was safe to play. You play games in the Premier League and in the Championship in those conditions. There will be games played next season in those conditions, albeit temporarily. "But if, at any point we thought it wasn't safe, we wouldn't have played it. "It was a very simple, straightforward dialogue (with the managers) and they were keen to play. They left the decisions to the match officials as to whether it was safe and it was safe. The pitch drained very easily and they were good games." More storms are forecast for the weekend and Scudamore says Saturday's games will be abandoned if players are considered at serious risk of injury. "It doesn't put the fans off and the only issue is player safety," he said. "If, on Saturday, it's deemed that the pitch is unplayable, then we won't play."
We'll all no doubt understand your first three paragraphs as simple fact. Thats not the issue for me. Your final paragraph explains the problem. But it's not just the pundits, that ignorance certainly extends to the juronos. Like you say, you take about as much notice of us as anybody else where as we scrawl the net for our sunderland news so we know the reality of the situation. Ffs Sky, regarding mig, were still quoting somebody as his agent as the transfer completed when it had been established over two three weeks prior to the transfer that he wasn't even his agent. Lazy links, false facts, no effort whatsoever. It's extremely disrespectful, but as a united fan you are unable to comprehend our frustration (not you're fault your team is successful i know). Note, my frustration is with the press not you fella. you're all right.
If that was a Premier league game, no way on this earth would it have been played. Ball not rolling naturally. game Off
Love cheesey chips me like. People try and mock us with it, but that makes them the fools, not us. Add a few cuts of bacon to the mix, winner. That's what I had in the Akenside watching the lads piss on Spurs yesterday.
Now that's class. Cheesy chips with bacon, no doubt with a few pints, watching the lads humiliate some mickey mouse team from narf landen. Ideal.
I think it's partly a reason, it's worked with spurs. Once over they'd never get much mention but as they've improved they get as much coverage as Arsenal. it's a point that's very open to opinion. No excuse for the press to be so unprofessional with lower placed clubs do you not think?
Man city couldn't fill there stadium 2 year's ago you plum. they only sell out now because they have a good team & the season tickets are like 270 pound. I pay close to 500 pound to watch ****. plus if Sunderland had a team as good as man united or man city we would need a bigger stadium end of. plus you need to go around Sunderland when Sunderland plays because all our bars are full to.
So the top 4/5 clubs will fill more pubs, buy more sky TV packages than the other 15 clubs put together. I would dispute that. Figures or no figures. It's top 5 biase. Simple as that.
