Right... so who started this thread and the other one on the same topic?

What is embarrassing? Your attempt to justify your argument through fantasy?

Are the apathetic wasting their breath emailing the club? starting petitions? writing blog entries?

Yet we're the ones getting wound up <party>

PS: you'll find these questions to be rethorical ;) Just thought I'd explain as City Agro doesn't know what it means.

Number one rule of marketing, always maintain the same brand message and ethos, so that people know exactly what they're buying into with that brand.

Separating the club name, from the commercial activities of that club, makes absolutely zero business sense and that's why I don't believe for a second that's what's happening.

Lack of a firm base? Seriously? Whereas the "sky is falling down" lot are basing their entire argument and petition raising on....what exactly?

You really don't get the "can care about the club but not be bothered about minor changes to how the name is used" thing do you?

Why do you feel the need to try and score (imaginary) points all the time? If anything, that's more than a tad embarrassing.

Have you sent an email to Mars to get the Marathon name change reverted, as that was a huge disaster?

These aren't imaginary points! You can actually redeem them at the bank of E.G.O. Once redeemed, your life finally has sense and meaning. You should try it! :emoticon-0136-giggl

A few too many replies from excitable types with apathetic views to bother responding to individually, surfice to say that the initial raising of the issues has certainly slowed down where this was heading, so hardly a waste of time.

The reasons some object are quite clear. Few people have voiced support, the noisiest ones seem to be the apathetyic types who cliam not to care, but seem keen on it going ahead, but as yet have offered no solid reason as to how the club would benefit. I'd call that a clear lack of a firm base.

Hay, now watch the apathetics get excited. <laugh>

I think you have misunderstood the situation totally. A football club and a rock band make money by linking their name with commercial activities. Businesses that are multi-product in nature are totally different. Marathon was changed to Snickers to standardise the advertising throughout the world.

100% agree. Ive said this all along and posted it on here several times. If we're trying to build a presence in the Far East, or indeed anywhere overseas, literally the worst thing we could possibly do from a brand awareness perspective is give a different name to the one the market sees on their television and in their sports pages. This will only confuse the issue if we have Hull City AFC and Hull Tigers, people will think they are two different entities.

Im sure the club know this, they cant possibly be that stupid, so if we're pushing the name Hull Tigers there, you can guarantee we'll change it officially here.

<<<Do you think it’s a good idea to have one name for the football activities and another name for the commercial activities?

Yes. It will improve the commercial, and thus income side of things imo.>>>

Please explain how having a different name to the football club will improve the commercial side of things.

<<<Is selling tickets and season cards a football activity or a commercial activity?

Commercial. I really hope, given you're an accountant, I don't need to explain that to you.>>>

What about selling a player? Is that a football activity or a commercial activity? Which name should be used then? Maybe we should use a third name for hybrid activities - just to avoid confusion?

The Last Word Syndrome is characterized by, obviously, having to have the last word in any discussions or argument. Its secondary symptoms include a pathological need to justify this compulsion via proving the other party’s opinion is unworthy by uncovering any and all faults in others, incessantly harping on these as a means of validation. This is as opposed to, say, using facts and logic as a means of supporting ones assertions.

Don't think i need to say anymore, i am sure i will get a response <whistle>

In his interview with RH Nick Thomson said:-
“If we talk about football-related things, it’s Hull City. If we talk about business-related items, it’s Hull City Tigers"
No problem with that but the e-mail regarding tickets for the Chelsea game was from Hull Tigers AFC which does not appear to be the footballing side nor commercial side. So what is the relevance of the name Hull Tigers AFC to anything?

Why should we listen to you when clearly you haven't read everything?

I love the fact you just unintentionally slagged off the ones against the proposal for their lack of vigour.

I love how each side will assume you're talking about the other side.

You're being silly, Happy - it is now apparent that it was already happening, until concerned fans got on the case. Result = such rubbish as "Didn't know/ Didn't realise/ Was not meant to be happening".

Oh yeah? Why was it happening then? Someone's telling porkies....

And in that case why change the signs at the training ground and in the gym? There it is ONLY football, nothing else.

He's trying to suck gullible types in I'm afraid.

The club are hopelessly confused about why they are doing it and how they are doing it. That's ignoring the fact that there's no logic in using different names.

Based on some of the comments on this thread, I suspect that won't be all that difficult.

I suspect you suffer from small man syndrome as you seem incapable of disagreeing with anyone without describing them as being in some way lacking. Informed opinion? Informed by who? you have any qualification to say that? Doubt it. Just your rather juvenile version of "my Dad's bigger than your Dad". Pathetic in what I had thought was a grown man.

Keep telling yourself you are the only one on here with a valid opinion if it keeps you happy. We don't want you having a tantrum diddums.

Send your season ticket back why don't you? Change of name or not, with you or without you there will be a full house at the first match. You going to stand at the entrance telling everyone going in that they're not a full shilling. Puerile inadequate.

You don't seem to be addressing the issues and simply want to indulge in name calling.
