What about the point that it makes commercial sense to link the football club name to commercial matters and it makes little sense trying to sever any naming link?

Why do you want to change the name, if you do?

REPLY RECEIVED BELOW RE: HULL TIGERS AFC BANNERS ON RECENT EMAILS SENT OUT

Thank you for your email on this subject – you are not alone!

To be completely honest this was set up around 12 months ago by the old marketing manager as a template during the process of changing the name of the business side of the club and it has been used by the ticket office since. When I sign off emails I check the content and not templates and so I was unaware of the issue until now. I was as surprised as anyone to see this.

I can assure you that it has now been changed and I would like to reiterate that we are Hull City.

Thanks,

James

And my reply back to James......

Thank you for your reply.
However I can’t help notice the badge on your signature area says Hull City Tigers.
When were the fans informed of the changes to our official badge?
Why change it from Hull City AFC – The Tigers??
The Club and our nickname are two separate entities, stop trying to join them together, i.e. “Hull City Tigers” people really don’t like it!

Yours not convinced,

You've missed my previous comments. I don't want to change the name. I see no value in doing so (other than I enjoy watching OLM, DMD et al squirming with angst), but I also don't see any problem in doing so. So, if a bloke, who has paid £60m to dig us out of the ****e, wants to make a minor name change, that's ok by me.

I know DMD likes to put me in the "apathy" camp because I'm not bothered, but actually I'm very passionate about not caring, and therefore reject the apathetic tag. Like Happy, I'm a "don't care", not a "can't be bothered".

I don't think the poor lads a full shilling, so I doubt you'll get a meaningful reply Peter.

So you don't want to change the name but because the Allam's have spent a lot of money on the club they should be allowed to? Even if it's detrimental to the club? What if one of the Allam's wanted to play in the first team each week? While not exactly the same thing it's similar. By limiting commercial opportunities due to the confusion over the various names they are affecting the funds available for team strengthening.

I am of the opinion that we should strive for the best for the club even if it's only in a small way. Not everybody has £60m to spend on a football club. If that includes explaining to the club the commercial madness of having one name for the football club and another name for the commercial activities then we should do it. We should also point out the confusion regarding the use of the names. I find it appalling that the person who sends out emails never checks what they look like to the recipients. It confirms to me the incompetence we are dealing with.

I find it slightly pathetic that a Mod has to rely on "name calling" rather than reasoned argument. Actually, I'm just as much the full shilling as you Dutch, I just don't need to rely on abuse if I disagree with people.

You owe me an apology. If you are man enough to make one. I don't say you are lacking in intelligence just because we disagree. Should I?

To be honest, it's a shoddy excuse that he doesnt know the template its sent out on. Why didnt he check the templates? Yes once it is set up and agreed by him I wouldnt expect him to check it every time but the first time a mailshot was issued after I was appointed I'd want to know what it looks like.

Pfft, it's not name calling, it's an informed opinion based on your posts, **** all to do with being man enough to apologise and being a mod's **** all to do with what I reply to. <laugh>

Meh, you'll get used to that here.

I still maintain this is much ado about nowt. The reply from the marketing fella seems pretty easy to understand, and is clear that this was never the point of the exercise. Easy to surmise it was never a plan. Yet, "Fan Power" will have stopped it. Even though it wasn't going to happen.

We should start a petition to stop the club from being moved to Scotland too. Fan power will stop this heinous act and destruction of our history from happening! Who's with me??

So calling people 'rabid Luddites' is not name calling then?

Glad we got that one sorted.

<<<By limiting commercial opportunities due to the confusion over the various names they are affecting the funds available for team strengthening. YOU CLAIM TO BE AN "ACCOUNTANT" SURELY YOU UNDERSTAND THE PRINCIPLE OF COMPANY OWNERSHIP AND DIRECTORS RESPONSIBILITIES.>>>

What’s your point?

<<<Not everybody has £60m to spend on a football club. If that includes explaining to the club the commercial madness (IN YOUR OPINION) of having one name for the football club and another name for the commercial activities then we should do it.>>>

Of course it’s my opinion.

Do you think it’s a good idea to have one name for the football activities and another name for the commercial activities?

Is selling tickets and season cards a football activity or a commercial activity?

Is it bad that the more our whiny little girls brigade keep crying over this the more I want it to pass through.

Although this is some good entertainment !

As I said, I don't think the lad's a full shilling and that's an informed opinion, an observation not an insult. He's just one of a line posting drivel in the hope someone posts a reply they can be offended by.

Funny, I see the vociferous apathetic types as the ones getting het up, probably due to the lack of a firm base to their argument. The others just seem content to bat the replies for six with such ease it's a tad embarrasing.
