I agree. Not sure what that is all about really and now that they've denied it it's just going to be even messier.

When these sponsor announcements are made it's very unusual not to agree the wording between the sponsor and sponsee (? should that be sponsored?).

someone said earlier Hull City Tigers would set a precedent with a name change ,

here are just a few clubs no longer under their original name - i accept these changes where mostly made in the clubs early years

Accrington Stanley (im not even talking about the current one )
    Bristol Rovers
    Scunthorpe Utd
    Plymouth Argyle
    Wolves
    Leighton Orient
    Coventry City
    Leicester City
    Manchester Utd
    Arsenal

And i got bored listing them

F*** me, that spelling change was stealthy. I'd heard nothing about it!

    Of course you're not bothered.

You don't even bother to go to games.

My apathy over this supposed name change (I still do not see the badge changing) is nothing to do with my usual support of the Allams. It's entirely because I don't see any huge drama with it, it really does not bother me, there's far bigger things to worry about in football and in life in general than a commercial decision like this that will not affect me or my team one little bit.

I haven't checked, but weren't those name changes a consequence of a whole new club being formed rather than a simple name change?

There seems to be plenty of people against the name change, some (ironically) repeatedly claiming to be apathetic, but very few that are in support or that can offer a suitable justification for the name change. It's ironic that even those not against it, in general tend to be accepting that it has happened despite the claims from the club. So the consensus of those commenting seem to be expressing doubt about the official club position. That can't be healthy and reflects poorly on the Clubs handling.

Why change the name of the limited company like they did in March?

That then seems to be a justification for using the name.

Why is being apathetic about the commercial name change ironic? Maybe wrong choice of word, but its hardly a world away from "I don't mind". I think its much ado about nothing, especially the "being poorly handled" thing being moaned about. I can easily be firm about not caring about this, or would you rather just see the people complaining about it post?

It's a storm in a teacup. It doesn't affect the team or club I support. A few people on a few forums does not represent the majority of the fans. It's a minor change. The team name is the same, and in all honesty, if they slightly altered the badge, which they don't seem to be doing anyhow, it would not bother me. If they changed the colours we play in, that would annoy me. Christ, even the strip we play in changes every other season, why isn't that a massive issue?

That sentence negates most of what you've posted on here, it seems you wouldn't go along with any change for 'so called' commercial benefit, you simply set the bar lower than most on here.

The irony is the amount of posts defending a change that the club say isn't happening and a few posters say they don't care about. It seems a lot of effort to defend a change you don't care about either way, and one the club say isn't even happening.

Even the apathetic seem to be doubting the official club line.

I don't want any changes. At all. Ever. Changing the name of a football club is one surefire way to piss off a lot of people all at once. Another way would be to piss a lot of money up the wall on a **** player.

I can accept that the club changes the kit, most clubs do that and as long as we keep our home colours, then that's fine. But you can't change the name of the club, the name that appears in all the national and international media throughout the world. The ONLY time you should change a name is if a club goes bust and has to reform lower down and even then it should be to something very similar to the original. But not when we're in the Premier League. Or even the Football League.

Oh I see. I'm not defending anything, I'm also not attacking it. Because it doesn't bother me. The name change that is.

That's why I'm apathetic about it, (the change).

The clubs said the commercial side of things is changing, and they have. I don't mind that at all.

The actual club name, which is the sewn on thingy on the chests of our shirts, according to the club, isn't changing and as far as I can see hasn't changed. Even if it did change (dropping AFC for Tigers), that also wouldn't bother me, although then sure, I'd agree the club had misled us over that. They haven't though, so I don't see the issue.

I don't understand your issue with people posting they don't care about a specific thing. I care about the club, and that's what make me want to put over the view that I don't care about a change such as this, otherwise all we'll see is a minority on here complaining about it. Think of it as balance.

It seems even the apathetic can see no advantage in changing, so given others can see disadvantages, there seems precious little point in doing it.
