Bullard is waiting to see where his future lies after finishing the season on loan at Hull's Championship rivals Ipswich Town. He has two years remaining on his contract at the KC Stadium and told Soccer AM at the weekend that his priority next season is to be playing regular football. The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to Norwich City and Bullard did not rule out a summer switch to Carrow Road. However, fellow promoted side QPR are also interested in a deal and are expected to hold discussions with Bullard. QPR boss Neil Warnock confirmed the release of eight players from his squad earlier in the week and is busy planning for the top flight. Bullard is a proven performer in the Premier League, having previously impressed at Wigan Athletic and Fulham, and could be playing top-flight football again next term.
£45,000 a week... Can Norwich outbid us? I believe they've already got Makail-Smith and if they beat us to Bullard it won't augur well for our chances of attracting top names...
i don't think he will get 45k hoop the blokes got be realistic in wages, but would take him as he's still a decent player & was outstanding at loftus road last season, cms i don't think is cut & dryed yet for norwich or everton, but want danny graham any news on him?
hi all i think you may have mackail-smith i think Norwich want morison more we will have to walt and see i hate walting i want to know well done being champions
I like Bullard but do we really need this type of player? Faurlin and Routledge in tandem cover his kind of territory very nicely already. And we wouldn't want to pay the type of wages mentioned here (for which a source would be nice BTW) for a bench warmer.
I don't think we'll want a fee, so Jimmy might be a good squad player. You just need to invest two years worth of wages (just over 1 million) and he's you can ghave him. Bargain!
Dont want bullard picks up injuries to often maybe we could offer him a pay as you play contract other wise not interested.
Bullard to hold QPR talks... Warnock: How much are your wages? Bullard: £45k a week Neil. Warnock: Fook off....
A fit Bullard is in a different class, or at least, used to be. As LoftBoy said, a pay as you play contract , and within our structure would be good. After 2 or 3 matches, we would all love him. Skillful and committed, could almost be the new Ainsworth. And he can take free kicks. Not worth gambling on for a full contract though.
Think we have him sussed folks, fit and playing well he's quality - unfit, which has been more the case recently, an expensive casualty.
HULL CITY: No cut-price sale to offload Tigers' top earner Bullard Hull City's Jimmy Bullard Hull City's Jimmy Bullard HULL City will not entertain any cut-price deals to offload top earner Jimmy Bullard this summer. The 32-year-old looks set for an inevitable departure during the close season as Premier League new boys QPR lead the chase for his signature. The Tigers will not stand in the way as they look to make room on their wage bill for up to seven new additions before the Championship kick-off in August. But unless a suitor is willing to recruit Bullard on a permanent basis and take up his £45,000 a week salary in its entirety, City will not sanction his move back to the top flight. Both Bullard and Tigers boss Nigel Pearson hope to find a fresh start to suit all parties this summer. The £5m club record signing has made it clear he wants regular football and, with City's focus on new blood, the KC hierarchy want to finally draw a line in the sand. However, any deal will be done on their terms. Championship rivals Ipswich were allowed to recruit Bullard for £19,000 a week in January, leaving City to fund the remainder of his wages throughout a four-month loan switch. That move has at least served to showcase the playmaker's undoubted ability and QPR boss Neil Warnock is known to be an admirer. The Mail understands Bullard has had several informal discussions with QPR in recent weeks but City are yet to field a single concrete approach since the season finished last month. Reports have suggested that QPR staged talks with Bullard yesterday but with the Tigers still waiting on an opening approach, any deal appears to be in its formative stages. For obvious reasons, City would be reluctant to see the aging midfielder depart on loan. With a dismal recent injury record, including two knee reconstructions in the last four years, one more setback could spell the end of the road. Were that to happen with Bullard out on loan, City would then be left to cover a possible commitment of almost £5m in wages up to 2013. It appears unlikely that the Tigers would hold out for a transfer fee given the financial demands that come with Bullard's salary but City are unwilling to see the player depart on his terms. Norwich, who finished as runners-up to QPR in the Championship, have also been linked with a swoop but any lingering interest from Ipswich appears to be over. Bullard was named as Player of the Season at Portman Road after making just 17 appearances and boss Paul Jewell declared his interest in seeing the midfielder return for a second spell. The financial demands of the move appear to have scuppered that, though, and Ipswich have switched their search for new signings elsewhere.
Absolutely spot on. I think he is a decent player - but I can seeing him picking up injuries all season: how does that help us?
Bullard ran the show when Ipswich came down to HQ last season. Proper class act(when fit). If we can get him on a decent wage with bigish appearance fee then I think it would be well worth the risk.
You can’t beat a bit of Bully Published: Today Add a comment Add a comment (2) QPR have been told they can have Jimmy Bullard for nothing as long as they pay his £45,000-a-week salary in full. Hull midfield ace Bullard, 32, is in talks with QPR boss Neil Warnock and the Tigers will not ask for cash. Bullard cost Hull a club-record £5million fee from Fulham in 2009. But they want him off the wage bill with two years left on his contract. A Tigers source revealed: "Unless anyone is willing to recruit Bullard on a permanent basis - and take up his wages - we'll not sanction his move to the top flight."
