I think that O'Neill comment can be attributed to Catts as well. I think he'd have been fine if he hadn't been rushed back. O'Neill should've been more sensible.
I agree mate, can't wait to get catts fit. PDC is going to teach him to stay on his feet, Mark my words. I Don't buy this **** that he's for sale and I don't buy that PDC doesn't rate him. Paolo will know his qualities and his weakness and will set about keeping him from going to ground imo.
If you have to ask then you know nowt about strength in midfield. AC Milan without Gattuso in midfield were only half as effective.
Spot on. And anyone who has watched us last 2 seasons is fully aware we have been a better team with Catts in there, without fail. That said though, we now have Cabral, who looks like he can do all parts of the CM spectrum, admittedly based on 1 game. Captain, by the way, has to be JOS for me, I'm struggling for another candidate. This is assuming no Catts, of course.
It's simple to spot Catts strength as when he plays, because the opposing midfield can't, He closes down like no other I've seen. Paolo will keep him on his feet foremost then try to add better passing to his game. He's 26 with years ahead of him.
Thing is with catts beforehand he didn't have a manager who was hellbent on discipline and not letting your team mates down.. I'd love to see pdc work with him this year on his discipline.. if catts corrected that and was reliable with his fitness then he'd be a machine! With the fitness side of things we're the best club in the pl for that atm.. My concern is does pdc have him in his plans?? Really like the bloke and hope he plays this season.
We'll he's not a dirty player, he's a reckless player. Keeping him on his feet will snuff it out. Should never have been made club captain not with so much to work on but like you say, no manager has attempted to develop that part out of his game. I don't think PDC with dismiss or accept him from/into plans until he has a look at him with his own eyes. I wonder if he's running yet?
Definately don't think he's a dirty player bri, he's part of a dying breed old school slogger who gets stuck in and on his day can boss the midfield. I think maybe being made captain might of been his downfall in regards to his recklessness and silly challenges.. He may of thought he was untouchable and he kept progressing with it. I heard he has been training with the dev squad
Ooo! Hopefully he's started ball work then. He might only miss the first few months of the season. Sooner Cabral has some competition the better. It's competition for places that locks out complacency imo.
Disagree safc83. Steve bold reading of the game was second to none. Due to his performances we were 2nd in the league at Christmas once he was injured we fell away. Wes may be a better footballer but as a centre half I'd take Steve Bold all day long. That said it's not that I think Wes is ****e. Far from it he is an excellent centre half and the best at the club when fit. Hope he can keep fit and have a season where I would put him above Steve Bold.
The difference between Cattermole & Gattuso is Gattuso can play football. Cattermole is just a headless chicken & if any **** rates him as a footballer then they should be shout.
Thats funny because we won more games without Cattermole. Cabral is in a different league compared to Cattermole.
I already noted Cabral in my comment, did you not read it? And of course we on more games without Catts, as he barely figured, but I know that any poster on this forum that actually goes to games will agree that we always look stronger with Catts in the side.
Good on Wes Brown, everyone loves a fighter. He could offer a lot to your younger lads too, he's always had touches of a first rate defender in his game and I'm sure if he was less injury prone he'd have shown this much more. Hope he has a good season for you guys, it's the least he deserves and it will have been killing him not being able to repay you lot for the faith shown in him.
I'm glad he's being given the chance to prove himself as it could save us a few quid but no way was he motm yesterday mate. The first 20 minutes or so he looked very nervous and made mistake after mistake, though to be be fair he settled down after that. Put that down to nerves on his first game back but Cabral was much more composed. I think he got motm just on the basis of a really well taken goal.
Great position to be in having JOS, Brown and Diakite to choose between. To think last season we played Killgallon.
