I know it's not quite Spurs exclusively but I thought I would start a thread about other teams etc. I would like to start by saying Hughes to Villa is a good move for them and they will challenge for cups and placings etc. Allardyce to West Ham is surely doomed to fail. Any thoughts on these and other football subjects?

Just wondering why you think Allardyce won't do well? Yes his football is bloody awful, but he gets the job done.

Allardyce will get West Ham promoted and probably at the first opportunity, though it won't be pretty.
I think that Grant destroyed enough of their spirit so that they won't actually be that bothered about how their football is, as long as they're winning, too.

Villa and Hughes have both denied any suggestions that they're linking up.
    I don't believe them for a second.
Might be a good thing for us, as Bentley could replace one of their departing wingers.
I'd suggest Bellamy to come in for the other one, with a focus on their youth squad demanded by Lerner to replace any other departures.

He was ropey at Newcastle and at Blackburn they were down the bottom. I just don't see him as a West Ham manager or as any team's manager. As you say his football is awful and he has a bad track record. West Ham will lose all their best players and he's hardly an entrepeneur who will attract quality. Hughes to Villa on the other hand was suggested last season.

No he isn't Luke. You say at times Bolton played well but not for long. All his teams play consistently below par and are lower table mediocrity. I felt Hughes was wrong at Fulham and I feel the same way about Allardyce. Send him up to Middlesborough or somewhere like that.

You can pick those type of players in any team at any given time <ok>

The facts are Big Sam's style is lump it up top to players who are big and strong in the air...West Ham don't have anyone like that, plus the Championship is a different place these days, to get promoted you need to play good football <ok>

What annoyed me most is all the West Ham fans thinking they are in any position to not want Allerdyce, they are not a big club and are now in the second tier <ok>

Not to mention the Spammers haven't played good football for the amount of time I've been on this planet!!!

Allardyce has a bad track record?
    Huh?

He was doomed at Newcastle as soon as Ashley took over and hated by their fans, who expected Jose Mourinho or something.
They were 11th when he was sacked.
Blackburn were 14th, but they were only 4 points off 5th place.

Hughes has been linked with the Bayern Munich job, according to the BBC.
    Didn't see that coming.

Maybe they are not in a position not to want him but they are right not to want him. I'm sorry PleaseNotPoll but even if he does take them up he'll take them straight back down again. I think QPR will do that anyway. I agree RRP.

Allardyce has never got a team relegated from the Premier League.
His last 4 years at Bolton were all top 8 finishes.

That will be seen as his golden era then. You say that he was 14th but only 4 points off 5th place but the whole of the PL was very close throughout the season with one win often taking a team up 4 or 5 places so I don't see that as a recommendation. West Ham are a team consistently up and down and I just don't see him changing that. I felt Chris Hughton would be ideal for West Ham with Robbie keane going back there.

    Robbie Keane?
How would they afford his wages?

Hughton would've been a good call, but I'm glad that he didn't go there, as it means that I can still laugh at them when they lose. <laugh>

I think that their owners will probably look to shift out anyone who's on anything like decent wages, bring in some Allardyce-style players and try to focus on their decent youngsters.
Noble, Collison, Tomkins, Stanislas, Sears, Hines and Nouble is a decent start, but they'll need some experienced heads around them.

Sorry,I must be getting tired. I meant Hughton yes with Defoe going back there not keane. I thought Defoe and Hughton could work well together. And Defoe could be the experienced head for the youngsters you mention.

    Defoe in the Championship?!
I think you are a little tired, TMT! <laugh>
Leaving aside the fact that West Ham fans sang that he "should've died with his brother", while their cousin sat on the West Ham bench no less, the worst that Defoe will do is move to Sunderland or Newcastle.

There's more chance of Paul Ince going to West Ham, frankly.

I didn't know that about the West Ham fans shouting that Poll, what a disgusting thing to shout. But Defoe's form was bad last season and yes I'll repeat that West Ham would be right for him. Fans soon forget grudges if the player starts to score goals and it's only the minority who are that vocal. Or perhaps even the Super Hoops might want him.

There's no way that Defoe will sink that far down this window, in my opinion.

I understand what Redknapp's trying to say (though I wish he'd stop saying it!), but I think that he's underplaying the hard work of Tony Carr.
Without him they'd probably have gone bankrupt years ago.

Not a fan of some of our manager's more old school opinions, to be honest.

Harry said that Spurs would challenge for top spot last season and look what happened. He praised Holloway at Blackpool and bingo down they went. Anyway seriously it looks as though I'm in the minority with my opinion but that's all we have at the moment....opinions. The proof of the pudding and all that jazz is next season. Harry states that Allardyce seems to be a hard northener and that's how I see him and nothing more,he should be up north.
