Hi guys, Gashead here in peace We have Matt Whichelow on trial with us and I was just wondering if you guys can give info on what he is like. Only thing we know is what is on wiki. Played a handful of games for you and scored a couple of goals and is a winger aged 21. What side does he play? Is he fast? Any info would be appreciated p.s see you in 2 weeks in the cup
He didn't play that much for us, but I wouldn't say he's a winger, more of an attacking midfielder who needs to play centrally in between midfield and attack if he's to play to his full potential. With hindsight Id say he was thrown into our first team too soon. Went from reserves straight to first team and this seemed to go to his head a bit, as the following season he never even made 1 appearance and got loaned out. If he had been loaned out in the first place (before playing for our first team) then things might have been different. I also remember him scoring 5 goals in one reserve game unless my memory is playing tricks on me.
If he gets his head down he could be quite a tidy player for you. IMHO. Certainly doesn't lack ability, might do a good job for you.
Unfulfilled potential is probably the best description - for whatever reason, he lost his way after a very promising start to his career. Your manager and fans may need to show a little patience with him...
