Are you for real? Both your club and premiership clubs are raiding our team just now, yeah, below average players in a below average league - that'll be why they're doing it. Hes a smashing player and you'll be ****ing lucky to have him. ****.
http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/celtic/id/475?&cc=5739# An article of mixed sentiments but that seems to imply he is coming to us. Col, noted re Norwich! Roller, I agree re expectation. What happens if he starts with a goal drought?!
Yeah, sure. So Wanyama, who does look decent, has gone to a team expected to fight relegation in the Premiership. When was the last time one of your players went to a good team in the Premiership? No, Scott McDonald, Barry Robson, McManus, to name just a few, were all playing for the mighty Celtic and were highly rated before going to the Championship and looking out of their league. Celtic are Championship level, the rest of the SPL are League One level, deal with it. There is a reason why it's only the likes of us and Norwich that are interested in him, because he hasn't proved himself at the top level. No other Premiership club is interested, not even Cardiff who were willing to spend £8m on Ince. That being said, I'm sure he'll score goals for us in the Championship and I hope we sign him. Given the choice though, I'd rather have Austin at half the money.
I totally agree mate, I was just pointing out to Tina that 3 goals against the European might of Helskinki and Moscow doesn't prove he's Premiership class, as she is claiming.
Announced on 5 Live this morning so I would think this is certain now. The cautious BBC do not tend to announce rumour which might need 'unannouncing' later. Very good news overall.
Your club's in no danger of getting within sniffing distance of CL football. He came to Celtic to win and participate in Europe - all boxes ticked. He's coming to you for the money - deal with it. Sorry to the decent QPR fans, but this guy's a fandan.
Harry Redknapp not expecting any hitches in QPR's bid for Celtic's Gary Hooper QPR manager Harry Redknapp does not expect to encounter any late hitches after agreeing a deal to sign striker Gary Hooper from Scottish champions Celtic. Redknapp believes 25-year-old Hooper can fire QPR to promotion after the disappointment of last season's relegation from the Premier League. Hooper has netted 82 goals in three years for Celtic and came off the bench as they eased into the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League at the expense of Cliftonville on Tuesday night. Redknapp said: "It looks like it's on its way to being done. Negotiations have gone well. "He's a finisher. He'll score goals in the Championship; I'm absolutely certain of that. "He's gone to Celtic; one of the biggest clubs in the world and he's scored goals. He's scored goals in the Champions League. "He's in the last year of his contract, so it's a good deal for everybody. It's good for Celtic to get the kind of money they are getting and hopefully it will be a great deal for QPR. "If he can come here and get 25 goals next season, then we will have a real chance of getting out of the division. "I think Gary is capable of reaching that sort of target. "We're going to need two strikers and I think they are going to have to weigh in with 50 goals." Details of the fee have not been disclosed by either club. Hooper cost Celtic £2.4million when he joined from Scunthorpe in 2010, and was the subject of interest from Norwich in January. Former Celtic captain Stiliyan Petrov is confident the Scottish champions would be able to cope without the star striker. Petrov is backing manager Neil Lennon to attract a suitable replacement should the deal go through. Petrov said: "As long as Celtic get enough money, and they are happy with that and the player is happy, I don't think it will be a problem. "Celtic always attract good players and, if he goes, there will be somebody else who will come in." Celtic reached the last 16 of the Champions League last year and Petrov knows the knockout stages will be the aim again this time around. However, with Elfsborg next in the third qualifying round, he says simply booking a place in the group stages of the competition must be seen as success. Petrov said: "It's very important, as a club and financially, to make the group stages but it's going to be really tough. "Every club realises how important the Champions League is, especially financially. "Every club, when they play in the play-offs, spend a lot of money and they try to build a strong team." Former Aston Villa captain Petrov announced his retirement from football in May following his battle against acute leukaemia. But he hopes to take to the field again when Celtic host a legends charity match on September 8 to celebrate his career, with proceeds going to local charities and Petrov's own foundation. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11711/8839581/harry-redknapp-not-expecting-any-hitches-in-qprs-bid-for-celtics-gary-hooper
I totally agree with everything you say, when did I ever claim otherwise? I've never said we are going to be in the CL any time soon. My point is that your claim that his 3 goals against Helsinki and Moscow prove he is top class, which is ridiculous. And I agree about him coming to us for the money, which is why I wouldn't be too bothered if he didn't, we've had enough if them recently. I think my comments have been quite clear and you're just deliberately taking offence with them because I haven't seen any evidence of your favourite players amazing ability.
I can see room for complete disagreement as such. Yes, money is no doubt helpful ......... but, maybe he can see a great opportunity to take this opportunity in the Championship with a pro-active club who are looking to bounce straight back into the Premier league. If he plays his part, he scores many goals, we win many games and we get promoted, simple. He has then achieved his goal ............. get to the PL whilst being on song in the goal-scoring department, which highlights his efforts and his value. Of course, I could be completely deluded but I'm comfortable with that ................ I'm an Queens Park Rangers fan and football life is never simple with us.
He's ALREADY proven that. 43 goals in 80 championship games whilst playing at Scunthorpe. And he's a whole lot better since then. Anyway looks like he'll be able to prove his worth at PL level sooner rather than later http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23450297
