I would imagine the plaquards were added by the company that handled the sale and distribution of the various parts of the stadium, i can't remember anything being handed out at the game. That said i stood, can anyone shed light on if there were maybe Red and White cards laid to create a 'stripe' image across the seating areas for the Liverpool game??] Seat 73 as well, so significant a number to our club. Wanna sell it??
I sat in the Clockstand seats for the very last game at Roker, which was a 1-0 victory over Liverpool. I took my eldest son (who is now 16 but was just a baby at the time) with me, just so he could always say that he had been there. Regarding the Arsenal game in 1976, the score was 2-2. My main memory of this game is the 'dogs abuse' handed out to the ex-Mag Malcolm Macdonald by the 40,000 + fans, and the bloody smug look on his face when he equalised for them.
BB no chance mate it attached to the seat and i was wondering if it was on all the seats Oh and BB it was found in a skip by a mate of mine
I've regretted since 1996 the fact that i never bought summat Dorset, i'd love to get a hold of summat. The entire 'Welcome To Sunderland' from the Fulwell would be canny....
Only got to Roker Park a couple times. Can't really remember it because I was young. I hear stories off my dad about the memories he had there. Going to away games I much prefer the old stadiums to the new modern ones. My fave so far has been Ninian Park, cos you could stand and it was a great atmosphere. I'm quite jealous of the older generations and what they've experienced at footy matches!!
As sunderland are one of the teams i follow im not going to sell it sorry guys but if i do ever want to sell it i will post it on here first i promise you that
The steps at the Roker End were made of concrete and were quite narrow. Not much fun getting out from the ground especially if you were at the back of the stand
thanks guys for all your help i have one outher question do any of the current or recent sunderland players have autobiographys out
didnt Foster buy all the seats by mistake?and made a good proffit later by refurishing them. memory aint so good, but they were advertised in A LOVE SUPREME, so that could be a good starting point, give Martin Macfaddin a bell, sure he will help you, by the way dont quite know the correct spelling of his name, my first match was in the clock stand, although, later I much prefered the paddock, best of luck in your quest, very worthwile.
