Surely it's about relative, not absolute, speed. Some of the best female players will probably be quicker than the other players around them, the fact that this is slower than Walcott or Lennon is irrelevant. No one is suggesting that the women play against men, so absolute speed/skill is irrelevant.
Nobody's suggesting women playing against men. All the women run as fast as each other. The problem is purely in your head where you believe football is only entertaining if played at a "high enough speed". Which is like saying all motor racing which isn't Formula One is boring to watch.
If it were the same rules as Formula 1, but just with slower cars, it probably would be boring to watch. As gunner is suggesting, make the pitches smaller and the ball lighter (change the rules) and it might be more exciting.
I don't think you can say probably there. I doubt fans would even notice a 10% or 20% change in speed. As for making the ball lighter and the pitches smaller, I just ignored that garbage.
It seems pretty weird to me that we spend much time on here decrying Stoke, Villa et al as boring for playing long ball football, yet think women's football would be more exciting if they could hit the ball further.
Right... so women's football teams will suddenly change tactics to play like Stoke if the ball was made lighter and the pitches made smaller?

It's like watching non league. Has some appeal, but not the real thing. To be fair, they haven't been playing in an organised way for very long, and it could improve a lot over the next 10 years. Especially if money comes into it.
