Sources say Newcastle are at early stages for a transfer of Loic Remy and they have launched an enquiry. When Hooper deal gets finalised then we will listen to offers apparently. And QPR and Nottingham Forrest are close to agreeing on a £2m transfer of Jamie Mackie.
as long as the Geordies cough up in the region of 10 million then let him go, as for mackie I think it would be better to hang on to a player of his work rate and fight in the Championship.
Regards Mackie, I always thought he wasn't good enough for the Premiership. Would I like us to face him in an opposing team in the Championship? No way. He has his limitations but he is a very good player in this league and gives 100%. He's not one I would like us to lose.
the general consensus seems to be that his buyout clause is around 8million. Still not a bad lump of change mind.
I'd rather we kept Mackie, limited but will do a good job at this level. I think he wants to go though as his wages have halved. Not sure how much Forest would be willing to pay him a week.
The only people that "launch enquiries" are the police and I'm not sure that's what Remy is looking for, given his current situation. Newcastle knew who they put in a bid for in Jan, will have a valuation and have had 2 months to figure out if they still want him. Unless, that is, the jury's still out on him or they want him back for further questioning...
Would Toon really risk Remy being taken to court on a rape charge in September? (Innocent until proved guilty of course)
He'd fit in well with the Newcastle alumni though - Barton, Carroll + Bramble. Good business if we can get 8-10million for him now (assuming we get Hooper), good for club finances as Remy will no doubt be picking more knocks, which he is prone to, in the Championship.
A team prepared to pay higher wages than us, it is a long time since that has been the case. I don't think Harry is a fan.
All this is stressing me out, its like splitting up with your bird, then going down the pub and seeing her with another man.
If we let Remy go once we get Hooper then we are in exactly the same situation, and need another striker. I would only let Remy go if we had Hooper and Austin signed. But ideally keep all three! As for Mackie, we seriously better not let him go. A fans favourite, and a hard worker. Has to stay.
Can't argue with any of that. Can we afford it? We can with EPL cash this year - definitely need firepower - but also need a midfield that can feed those forwards.. do we have it though? Hmmm.. hard to see that right now without Tarbs; then again maybe having such forwards can reinvigorate Hoillet and SWP (can anything invigorate him anymore?).
QPR have rejected a bid from Nottingham Forest for Jamie Mackie. West London Sport revealed at the weekend that Forest were interested in Mackie, whose first-team prospects look bleak under Rangers boss Harry Redknapp. Forest subsequently made an offer but were told it did not meet Rangers’ valuation of the 27-year-old forward. Redknapp, who is chasing the likes of Gary Hooper, Andros Townsend and Charlie Austin, is willing to let Mackie leave Loftus Road. http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-reject-bid-from-forest-for-mackie
Just thinking about the possibility of having Remy, Hooper and Austin. Perhaps in that case we could play a 4-3-3. With the above three forming the front line, and Faurlin, Henry, and one other forming the midfield three.
