An interesting article on how the Suarez transfer will tell us about Arsenal and Liverpool's global standing. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...t-just-goals-but-also-global-credibility.html I ask you: which club is bigger?
In the 70's Liverpool were bigger, but since Wenger became Manager at Arsenal,i belive they have become bigger, even though it's a while since they have won anything
I won't run 'Pool down, or seek to stamp its name into the dirt. It used to be a great club, perhaps the best in Europe, once. The mid and late 70s were the glory days for 'Pool, when the club reached heights that very few clubs could even dream of reaching. Of course, no one could expect any club to maintain those heights, and that proved to be the case with 'Pool. Theirs has been a gradual decline since the end of the 70s, which saw the emergence of United as the pre-eminent English club. Arsenal has never really been there. Sure, the club has had fits and starts (like we all have), but its history cannot hold a candle to 'Pool's. What they have had is the fact that they have been in the CL so many times; they've never won it, and probably never will, but at least they keep qualifying. It's only a recent phenomenon that Arsenal finish regularly above 'Pool, so whilst it is true to say that AFC is currently the "bigger" club, my money is on 'Pool, overall. As for Goofy, he'll leave 'Pool for AFC, not because the former is bigger than the latter, but simply because AFC is in the CL and will get almost as far as the quarters in that competition (where they generally go out). Like all mercenaries, Goofy will follow the glory. AFC may well prove to be the stepping-stone he needs to get into a really good club, like Real or Barca, or £ity.
True but here and now I'd say Arsenal have marginally a better chance at silverware and are in the C.L. However Arsenal only scrapped C.L this year and haven't won anything for 8 years so it's not quite the step up a Real Madrid would be. In fact Suarez has won more at Liverpool than Arsenal have in the same period. Frankly the little prick would be better off coming to us, god forbid.
We have much better orthodontists in Chelsea, he could get his teeth straightened for 1 days salary. Guess he will go for the biggest paycheck, in fact he will probably bite their hand off !!!!
From one club not in the C.L to another? Granted Spurs are ahead of Liverpool at the moment but he surely could only justify leaving for another English club to play in the C.L. Maybe Spurs will be in it next year but Arsenal are in it now and have consistently qualified in the last 15 years.
To be fair, we don't seem to be linked at all. However you couldn't rule it out if the Rooney thing falls through as they are not dissimilar players. However can't see anyone paying more than the 40m they have turned down so unless he tries to force a move I think he'll stay. Quality player but agree, we should be going nowhere near him - pure trouble.
He's brilliant no doubt, but I couldn't cope with the amount of **** he brings on the field. I think Jose was telling the truth anyway when he said Rooney or bust, reckon we'll be going all out for him.
Agree. If we don't get Rooney he'll stick with what we have and if we do, Ba will probably go somewhere late in the window.
Looks like Goofy is trying to force a move to Arsenal, as I predicted he would, when he realised that he'd been stitched up by 'Pool over his duff break clause.
I'm torn between which should leave out of Ba and Torres, Torres is on far too much money and I'd hope he wouldn't get a look in with Rooney AND Lukaku. Ba has just be **** for us generally but I'd like to give him a chance. That clause is the most ridiculous thing isn't it? I think this just shows how much of a tool Suarez is, moaning about the British press but openly stating he'd join Arsenal. Not going to lie though, they'll be good with him.
Right now Arsenal are bigger, overall Liverpool. That said, if Arsenal didn't have Spurs, Chelsea and even West Ham on their doorstep, they'd be far and away the biggest club in England IMO.
I forgot to put Torres was brilliant towards the end of last season and is more used to our style than Ba. Not just HIAG with a sandy crack
Both Arsenal and Liverpool make Spurs look like a bunch of part-timers as far as history and stature go. They far outclass them in terms of trophies, stadiums, fan base and style. Spuds haven't won the league in over 5O years and haven't won a major trophy in over two decades. Even Portsmouth have out performed them in terms of major honours in the last twenty years
