This is last week news. The much more important thing now is, that does Hooper himself accept our bid......?

Hooper would be a great signing for us, he will get us 20+ goals a season. It's been quite a while since we've had someone capable of doing that.

I thought they accepted a bid last week?

Im not too sure if this will happen, only way Hooper will join is if we give him a great contract. However all our signings have been strictly on our terms not the terms of the agents i.e. Henry contract is based on performance and appearances.

Still hope this happens though, cant see AJ and BZ working all season.

If he does sign, there will be great expectation from us. I hope that does put undue pressure on him (though that is partly why they are so highly paid - to deal with that pressure). Just in time for Thursday?!

Old news. Hooper still waiting to see if a prem club will match the offer we've had accepted. Won't sign for a while yet!

Disagree. I think its clear that this is moving on to the next stage now.

Yes bid was expected last week but they've had a week to tout him around and see if Norwich Stoke etc would match our bid. Not happening so Celtic want to get this done as its in there interest as much as it is ours. They are going to use this money to investg in a replacement

...and if no Prem club does match or improve our offer, we'll know that he is not rated at Prem level. But thats ok because we don't play there anymore.

At least he has the habit of scoring goals, hopefully transferable from Scotland.

It's not actually old news, the old news was that the tabloids jumped the gun a bit. They knew we were sniffing, but Neil Lennon said last week that Celtic hadn't accepted a bid from us, as highlighted by he playing for Celtic last night in their Champions league qualifier.

But at least a bid has now been accepted. But I'm sure one thing does remain the same, Hooper will probably want a bid from a Premiership team, you can't blame him for that. But I'm sure what will be at the back of his mind is that even after relegation, we are still a team with large plans, whereas he could join one of the premiership teams who are looking (Norwich and Hull), all teams who even though are well run clubs, have a recent history of the boing boing effect. He could well join one of them and be stuck in the championship next year anyway, or he could join us and be in the premiership next season and beyond.

It's all hypothetical, but I just hope that if he does sign people will welcome him with open arms. Last season seems to have damaged a lot of our fans, very few seem to be able to accept any transfers at face value and welcome them as a Rangers player any more. We need to forget last season, everyone gets a fresh start and get behind the team regardless of how much they're on, who they are, or their reasons for joining. They're our team!

I have to agree with this. It probably comes from the player, he's probably thought about it and waited, hoping for a Prem club to come in and match our offer. They haven't so he's told Celtic he now wants to move to us so they accept our offer officially having done so in principle last week. It's only 10 days until the start of the season, I think you'll see him agree terms and have a medical within the next 24 hours. I wouldn't be surprised if he played at Southend.

Decent signing if it goes through but I do hope we're not paying too much for him.

As I have said several times before this only has a small amount to do with Hooper, and A LOT to do with his agents/manager. As soon as THEY figure that the QPR offer is the best they are going to get (for them) THEN he will sign.

Celtic have accepted a bid from Queens Park Rangers for striker Gary Hooper.

The Championship club submitted an offer of around £5m for the 25-year-old last week.

Hooper, who was used as a substitute in Tuesday's Champions League qualifying win against Cliftonville, scored 31 goals last season.

Talks are ongoing between the player's representatives and QPR over personal terms, while Norwich remain keen on the former Scunthorpe forward.

Hull and Norwich have both had bids for Hooper rejected this year and the centre forward turned down the chance to extend his stay at Celtic Park.

Having moved to Glasgow from Scunthorpe in a £2.4m deal, the striker has been Celtic's top scorer in each of the last three seasons and has one year remaining on his contract.

During that time, he has helped the club win two Scottish Premier League titles, two Scottish Cups and, in 2012-13, reach the last 16 of the Champions League.

Harry Redknapp delighted to agree deal for 'proven scorer' Gary Hooper

Gary Hooper looks set to move to QPR after a fee was agreed with Celtic.SNS Group

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has told STV that a deal to sign Celtic's Gary Hooper is almost done and that he hopes he is signing the Championship's next top scorer.

Celtic accepted a bid of just under £5m from QPR for Hooper on Wednesday afternoon and the player is close to completing a move to Loftus Road.

Redknapp said that he had been tracking Hooper's progress for the player's whole career and had seen him prove his credentials as a striker during his time under Celtic boss Neil Lennon.

"It’s all been agreed," Redknapp told STV. "I’ve not been dealing with it but the chief executive and the chairman have been dealing with Celtic.

"Hopefully we’re close to finally getting there but until it’s done you’re never sure. " He’s a player we’ve been chasing for a while and now we’ve agreed a deal with Celtic.

"We’ve followed him from his days at Gray’s Athletic to Southend to S****horpe. Then he’s gone and scored goals at the highest level with Celtic.

"So he’s proved that he’s a goalscorer and hopefully he can score some goals in the Championship now."

QPR were relegated from the English Premier League last season but Redknapp said that he was optimistic that Hooper's goals could win the Rs promotion from the Championship at the first time of asking. If that was achieved, the veteran manager said he wouldn't rule out Hooper achieving his international ambitions with England ahead of next year's World Cup.

"I would love to see him being leading goalscorer in the Championship and hopefully that would mean us being promoted," he added.

"If he came here and was a prolific scorer then you never know [about an England call]. We’re not overloaded with great strikers in England, that’s for sure, and everyone’s looking for a good goalscorer."

Great news, but will only be happy once he has signed!

I expect alot of this over the last week has been agents rumours etc.. But it does sound as if his agent has been talking to us already, so hopefully that means personal terms are close to being agreed, and he can sign quickly.
