wasn't he signed from man city? maybe i'm going mad! yeah, i know a bit about him. looked very promising around 16/17, nice touch but a bit lightweight. mainly plays centre half but might need to play full back to build up some strength, especially in the championship. bit surprised citeh have let him go but he must be about 21 by now - never likely to get in their team. will be good back up for you
apologies - just seen he moved to man united last summer! bizarre - i didn't even know he'd moved there
he is 20 supers, I think he has played in all the young swiss international sides. He is likely to be a RB or back-up CB for us, will get a few starts and picked us over some top league clubs abroad. There must be something about him for both Man City and Utd to sign him and could be the signing of the summer for us.
Sounds a bit like De-Laet to me although, having said that, I thought he was a bit better than many people gave him credit for. Not set the world alight since though.
Anyhoo boys it's been fun as always but for the time being the Ashes series is the only show in town for me! Saying that I am boarding a plane to Cuba tomorrow morning and I will miss the 3rd Test and the first couple of games of the new season!
Ritchie De Laet has been class for us. Great going forward and reliable defensively I dont think he was ready for the prem when you had him
to be fair, he played quite well and looked promising but the problem he had was that he made a very bad mistake in three separate games, each of which cost us wins! i agree he probably wasn't ready for the premier league
As much as i hate him, I can see him scoring 20+ next season in the championship. hopefully none against though!
I posted this on another thread yesterday, but it's more apt on here. A championship fantasy team based on former NCFC players. Barnett will now replace Shackell. please log in to view this image With Rob Green as deputy 'keeper, Shackell and Richie de Laet options in defence and Henri Lansbury in midfield. Plus Chris Martin up front. Go, team Ex-Canaries
I hate to admit it but I have got holt in my dream team this season, I reckon he will be the difference this season for wigan!
My outside shout would be Huddersfield.. always thought Mark Robins was a decent manager and he's added some more class to the side over the summer, but as with everyone else it's down to consistency and I think that is where we will have a (slight) advantage over others.. Supers, I understand your point on "exciting players" but in recent years we've had Bullard, Chopper, Jet, Martin etc. and none of them have produced much. Last season the likes of Hull (and take Knockaert out) Leicester were solid units without too much of an out and out game changer and I think the likes of Wordsworth and Taylor could well provide that for us this season as Taylor in the short spell before his injury looked a class above The reason most of us are more optimistic/excited is because of this change in approach, we all know the CCC is an endurance test and we have the tools to be able to last the course.. although in my own opinion we lack an out and out goal scorer to fire us into the real promotion mix but the way Murph played toward the end of last season & this pre season I wouldn't bet against him notching 20 goals this term...
i'm not being dismissive because of the team! i'm just saying that there is nobody on paper who jumps out at me and says 'he'll win them games'. off the top of my head hull had plenty of players capable of changing a game on their own with a moment of magic - boyd, aluko, elmohamody, koren leicester do - nugent, knockaert, dyer, wood cardiff did - whittingham, bellamy, cowie, noone palace did - zaha, bolasie, phillips, williams ipswich have - err... taylor maybe? mcgoldrick maybe? realistically i can't see them being capable of winning games on their own. as i said before, having a solid squad doesn't mean you won't have a good season - it can achieve a lot - but having that bit extra is why teams have great seasons and why i suspect ipswich will sit in the group of teams below the play offs. 'workmanlike' is the word that describes that squad best. 'talented' is a long way down the list.
Honestly a bit bored now with taking the p*** every year re relative league standings between us and Ipsquit. Come on you Binners! Get promoted so we can have a proper rivalry again!!
Thing with Ipswich, is MM has bought a bid of solidarity to the squad. Spent next to nothing, but has a squad full of players who are there's. We had to be relegated to stop that! IF MM can get them performing I think they can just nip into the playoffs, though with the s*** they've been through I would be happy with a comfortable mid table finish as a show of progression. It's going to be such a tough league just like last it is really difficult to predict anything to do with that league
