It won't be up to him. There's 5 million of us it's up to - if the majority of folk in the new vaginal utopia want to do away with the monarchy, we can. If the majority want to keep it and be part of the Commonwealth, who am I to argue? You can't say you won't vote for change because it's not different enough to the status quo and, therefore, prefer the status quo.
But Salmond will have the power and he's the one who said we would keep the Queen as head of state. As far as i'm concerned I will not vote for Independence in any form where the Queen has a role, even a purely symbolic or titular one.
See Bib's comment above. Edit: which is more likely to see you living in a country without a monarch: Britain or an independent Scotland?
Why will Salmond have the power? Won't he have to go through the triviality of some sort of democratic party political process first?
I agree and i'm torn on the matter, but I simply don't believe the people of Scotland have the will to dispense with the Queen, like the Australians they will probably be apathetic towards her and not driven to oust her and her gang of Parasites.
I hope you are right, I truly hope so. I also hope someone within the SNP (Or whoever is in power) will have the balls to actually do something to get rid of them.
Is there anything wrong with that? Besides, It's nothing personal I just don't happen to believe a Feudal system has any place in the 21st century.
If Salmond can convince me that I will get laid by Nigella every night for the rest of my life then I will consider yes. I'm not being greedy but there has to be something in it for me.
I agree. Why can't we be more like the Dutch or the Swedes whereby they don't sponge off us peasants.
I know that is two sensible posts in a row Dougie. ****, this will make it three. Didn't think this one through at all.
we should probably vote yes for independence in other news, everyone has turned on mindy and is being phure styled as per...
If you live in a house controlled by a big mean landlord in london who controls most of what happens in the house then you aren't allowed to decorate(legislate to improve the economy) no matter how long you spend trying to persuade him. so really the only option is to move(vote yes). Your metaphor fails badly. Also to extend the metaphor wouldn't you rather have a bought house which you could govern independently. Or live in an hmo with wales ni and england?
