Oh dear the other obsessive, old Stumpers has returned. I don't know how much of his loans VT will convert to shares but whatever amount he decides to do goes straight from debt into equity. Stumpers do you understand that when that happens he can't simply ask for his money back as he can for loans? Equity is locked into the business and the only way he can get that back is by selling the shares to a willing buyer.
