Ok, probably the wrong termanology in calling them really good players, i believe they can do a lot better than Col Who. I would say Col Who will be relegated this season, shame really because i really have a lot of time for Joe Dunne.
Honestly, why not? Thought second half of season they improved and in Coutinho they have a fantastic player. Depends how they'll reinvest the money from Suarez, who at this point they should just sell. Fenway policy is to sign younger players with resell value so that could result in Suarez not being replaced straight away. If they can get a couple of good signings in and a replacement for Suarez I think they'll do well.
I agree that they should grab Arsene's 40Mill,but I think they may not. That would be a huge mistake as the little coypu will not perform and throw a hissy fit. If they keep him I reckon 7th.
they are miles off the pace. miles and miles. the manager is a sham, their best player (by a large margin) wants out, they've lost a huge presence in the dressing room (carragher), gerrard has injury problems, they've swapped reina for a worse keeper imo. as usual pundits tip them, same as every year, but i'm never quite sure what they base this 'tip' on as there is nothing obvious to shout about. there's so many reasons 'why not' and very few positives to say they could make a challenge for the top 4, let alone the title which i find bizarre to even be under consideration. i think they will finish 6th, so technically an improvement, but that will probably be down to everton struggling more under martinez. i do agree that coutinho is a great little player, although again its bizarre that some pundits seem to think he was a brilliant find, a 'hidden gem' - he wasn't - most people knew about how good he is. the only thing which might help liverpool is less games - no europa league - so i'd give them a chance in the cups as they can focus on them more
Liverpool have the benefit of the opposite of the "Norwich Effect". It doesn't matter if their players are mediocre, their big name gains them recognition and kudos and a lot of people think that they are invincible, like they were in the Shankly days.
As we speak 90+ thousand in the MCG watching a Liverpool pre-season friendly v Melbourne Victory. Nuts!
And pay out lots if we do. If the bookies really thought we were safe they would push our price out to try and attract bets - they obviously don't think we are safe. It takes big money to change a betting market - why would punters risk losing large sums just because they dislike little old Norwich? IMO both bookies and punters think we are in danger of the drop and as both are talking with their money I respect their opinion.
norwich will always be one of the bookies favourites for the drop because we are not fashionable! punters don't see us as fashionable, generally don't know a great deal about us, so bet on us as we are an easy option. and to be fair, 1950 is right - we are one of the favourites for the drop because we are genuinely in danger of the drop, but then so are about 12 others, all at similar levels! we are no more in danger than say newcastle, yet they are ranked outsiders. that is because they are viewed as a bigger club, more resources, therefore less likely to go down. same with villa. the most bizarre ones are west ham and southampton - the bookies always claim 2nd season syndrome exists (we all know it doesn't really) yet both saints and west ham are much longer odds than us.
Sunderland are doing well at the moment: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Barclays-Premier-League-Asia-Trophy-Live.html No Bale for Spurs though, could be why.
I must admit that I agree entirely with Supers regarding the top 4 apart from a comment he made on another thread that Arsenal won't spend big as they never have. Man City and Chelsea have consistently changed Managers without it affecting their appearance in the top 4 - why should the latest change be any different especially as they already had a greater net spend than Liverpool will ever have even if they sell Suarez. Man Utd have changed Manager BUT - and it is a big but - Fergie is still there to give advice if needed, Moyes is, allegedly, a carbon copy of Fergie and he has filled his backroom staff with Club stalwarts to ensure continuity. Where they finish in the top 4 will probably depend on sorting out the Rooney situation and who they buy in the next month but can you seriously imagine them dropping out of the top 4 altogether? Where Arsenal appear in the top 4 will depend on who they buy. I have a sneaking suspicion that Fabregas will return and they will also get Suarez. Would you seriously suggest that any team with a trio of Carzola, Wiltshire and Fabregas at the hub of midfield plus, possibly, Suarez up front to run onto their passes will struggle? How can Liverpool be stronger without Suarez, who was by far and away their best player last year and the reason they got as many points as they did, and Arsenal not be stronger with him? If Liverpool don't sell him to ' a Champions League Club' who have activated the clause in his contract he will sulk and cause unrest. If they sell they will have to replace him and if there was a cheaper better alternative available I am sure Mr Wenger would have spotted him by now. Have they properly replaced Carragher? Can they deal with the inevitable injury to Gerrard? Have you borne in mind how many points they have to make up from last year? I suspect that Spurs will have to spend big and keep Bale just to stand still, the top 4 will be the same Clubs as last season and, depressingly, the points gap between them and the rest will widen.
Unless United sort out there midfield I think a very sharp decline will ensue because I didn't think they were that good last year, they had a big helping hand by being surrounded with inconsistent teams.
Bloody hell, I think we've agreed three times today! Some of the stuff he was doing towards the end of the season was out of this world, if he can keep that form up he is going to have one hell of a season.
Wonder how our odds move when Hooper signs? If this happens I reckon we'll have bought three players who are significant improvements on what we had/have (RvW/Hooper/Fer) and a couple who are genuine first team alternatives (Olssen/Redmond). we will have a pretty young squad but the players we have brought in (bar Redmond but he is only a pup) all have pretty decent experience and their best years ahead of them. Kudos to the management - I really like our strategy of getting hungry players in looking to improve their careers rather than good players on the way down. I can still see us investing in a CAM or CB.
I agree about the overall strategy, but I really do think an old head in midfield would transform us; a top player who will pull the strings and control the pace of the game for us.
No disrespect meant to the lad but he has relatively little experience compared with the other lads we've bought. Just because he is young and inexperienced does not mean that he will not be a fantastic acquisition for the club just that his signiture represents slightly more of a risk than the others.
i do tend to agree about the older head in midfield. i wouldn't have minded scott parker but his wages must be astronomical... qpr will sign him we could play fer further forward and partner johnson/tettey with parker. could have worked really well i think but never mind.
Redmond has played 82 games in the last 3 seasons for Birmingham, Norfolkbhoy. Not bad for a 19 year old!
