Looks like the Blackpool Gazette are reading the Oatcake New signings thread going by the Joe Cole link.

STOKE City chairman Peter Coates has ruled out a move for Charlie Adam.

Manager Tony Pulis is weighing up a move for Liverpool’s Joe Cole but is also an admirer of the Seasiders skipper.

But Coates said: “The manager has not mentioned him (Adam) to me, so I assume he’s not interested in him.”

Adam has 12 months of his contract remaining but is expected to be the subject of several bids this summer. Pool turned down a £6.4m bid from Liverpool in January and would expect at least £8m for the 25-year-old.

Liverpool remain favourites to sign the Scot, with Tottenham and Manchester United also reported to be interested.

Cleverley yes please! I think we could persuade him and Agbonglahor? Is he/does he want too leave Aston Villa? If so, I would do everything to get him if
I was T.P. Smashing player and, better than Carlton Cole.

Potts, at the end of the last transfer window there was a tenuous link with Agbonlahor and a betting company (think Sky Bet, not sure though) has had us favourites to sign him for about 3 or 4 months. He has definitely had a falling out with Houllier, which seems to indicate that he's on his way. Plus, Agbonlahor's brother is on Twitter and I cannot remember exactly what he tweeted but the gist of it was that us and Newcastle are talking to Agbonlahor's agent at the moment, but no offer has been made. He would suit us down to the ground, with his pace, running the channel balls.

I will not be happy, unless we sign:

Strikers

Hernandez, Van Persie

Midfielders

Fabregas, Nani, Mikel & Park

Defenders

Vidic & Cole

Peter has the money, splash out the cash, get them in.

Interesting news about Mark Hughes. Has he resigned with the Villa job in mind, which incidently he can't take up until July. If Villa is his destination will that mean Warnock and Agbonlahor will want to stay at Villa with a new manat the helm?

Denis Smith believes Stoke supporters will need to be patient before they see any transfer activity at the club.
Manager Tony Pulis has traditionally waited for the latter stages of transfer windows to make new signings.
And Smith, who played almost 500 games for the Potters, is backing Pulis to make the right additions to his squad.
"You can't complain with what he's done up to yet," he told BBC Radio Stoke. "There won't be anything done quickly because the market isn't like that."
Former defender Smith added: "When they [the new signings] do come in, hopefully they'll be as good as the ones that have come in recently."
Pulis added seven new players to his squad during the summer transfer window in 2010, although only two of them - Portsmouth youngster Florent Cuvelier and veteran goalkeeper Carlo Nash - were signed before the start of August.
Kenwyne Jones, Jonathan Walters, Marc Wilson, Jermaine Pennant and Eidur Gudjohnsen all arrived towards the end of the transfer window.

The Potters missed out on a top-half finish in the Premier League this season after losing their last two league matches.
They finished 13th, a point behind 10th-placed Sunderland, although they did reach the FA Cup final for the first time in their 148-year history, losing 1-0 to Manchester City at Wembley.
Smith believes Stoke are in a good position to build on one of their most successful seasons ever when the Premier League resumes on 13 August.
"The top-half finish is a big one," said Smith. "To have another cup run would be good, and hopefully we can win one.
"Sooner or later, we've got a chance of winning the Carling Cup or the FA Cup and that's great.
"It's not going to be easy but at least we look like a club that's in with a chance of winning one of those."

We need a left back and he wouldn't be the worst option, especially at that price. Didn't realise Villa spent £7m on him, they'll be making a big loss on him when he's sold. Liam Ridgewell is another left back I hope we're looking at and Pulis does rate Ridgewell apparently. My query is would we sign one of Ridgewell and Warnock or in an ideal world both, considering Ridgewell can play centre half?

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...Villa-in-2m-summer-auction-article744121.html

Stephen Warnock is ready to quit Aston Villa this summer - despite the departure of his arch-nemesis Gerard Houllier.

The defender wants to follow Houllier out of the exit door, with Wigan, Bolton and Stoke all ready to enter a £2million auction for his services.

The England international clashed with Houllier last year and has been completely frozen out of the first-team picture since the December defeat at Manchester City.

Disillusioned with life at Villa Park, the 29-year-old will now attempt to force through a cut-price summer switch.

Warnock wants to revive his England career after last playing under Fabio Capello in the friendly against France in November.

Villa are prepared to take a substantial hit on the left-back, after signing him for £7m from Blackburn two years ago.

http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/news/TP-KEEN-ANFIELD-ACE/article-3627822-detail/article.html - Anyone know anything about him?

STOKE City boss Tony Pulis is tracking Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen after seeing the Denmark international drop down the pecking order at Anfield.

Pulis is convinced the big clubs will be busy in the transfer market this summer, and that could leave Stoke in with a shout of a clutch of players like Poulsen at Liverpool, his French team-mate David Ngog, Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson and even winger Shaun Wright-Phillips at Manchester City.

It could also re-open the possibility of an ambitious inquiry for Tottenham's Jermaine Jenas after another frustrating campaign of only 14 league starts for the 28-year-old former England midfielder.

But there is little chance of a return trip to try to sign Liverpool midfielder Lucas after the Brazil international not only penned a recent contract extension, but also won their player-of-the-year trophy.

"I expect it to be a busy close-season," said Pulis. "A lot of money will be spent at the top end of the market – not just Man City, as everyone expects, but also United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham. I think they will all have a go.

"That either clogs up the market because unwanted players are sitting on big contracts that clubs like us will not pay, or hopefully it might free the market up if their clubs help out so we can do the deals."

Poulsen especially fits the bill for Pulis after moving from Juventus for £4.5m last summer and failing to adapt to the English game in the pressure-cooker atmosphere at Anfield.

The 31-year-old Dane has figured just six times since Kenny Dalglish took charge at Liverpool in January and would arrive at the Britannia with a point to prove.

Pulis will also have done his homework on Poulsen via his Danish compatriot Thomas Sorensen.

I hope Tone starts earlier than normal, as our season starts on 28th July when we play in the Europa League, and we will need 2 or 3 at least in by then I reckon. I just hope we don't leave it until the last minute this time.

Twitter is a wonderful tool to have during the transfer window, even at this early stage. There's so many agents out there. After Wilson Palacios' expected move to Napoli broke down, this Footie agent on Twitter just tweeted this:

@Football_Agent9
Football Agent
Wilson Palacios will be staying in the Premier League. Sunderland, Wolves & Stoke have al been alerted. #Rumour

Palacios would fit us like a glove, proper cage midfielder and there was a bit of interest in him from us in January according the papers at the time. I think Napoli claimed talks broke down because Spurs wanted close to £12m for Palacios. Is that too much for him, do you reckon? Mind you I do worry that Redknapp will ask for someone like Begovic or Ryan in exchange, he's been after both for a while.

Definitely. Certainly at that price as well. Good for left back and decent backup for left wing.
