Its a sad state of affairs we dont have one recognised full back on the books. Hopefully we dont panic buy into getting someone shocking to fill the void.

I wouldnt play Brown full back against a team like Spurs. Any pace Brown had has now well and truly gone and a team like Spurs who are full of pace on the wings would well and truly have a field day.

Agreed there mate, JoS and Brown in the middle won't work for me either with Defoe's pace, unless of course we sit deep and play counter but I doubt Paolo would set the team up deep, especially as we're lacking the type of midfielder who can connect defence with attack. So it's either JoS or Brown and I'd go with JoS as he'll calm and settle the defence early on.

Your team is spot on for me apart from Ba for Larsson. I want to see Larsson on right when he plays.

It's a friendly for a start & normally Spurs play Holtby, Dempsey or Sigurdsson left wing so I don't think them 3 will beat Brown for pace.

And to be honest, i think considering how competitive PDC is, he will be playing as close to his first team 11 as possible and will be wanting to win.

Must of watch a different Brown to me like. can you remember the liverpool away game & that. didn't get done for pace at all.

Of course PDC wants to win but this thread is about who would you play & I would play Brown right back because he is better than Gardner in that position.

Which manager you think he is talking about?

    Moyes?

Good interview as well, seeing how happy and positive PDC is, gives me a LOT of confidence going into the season.

He was marking Andy Carroll that day if i remember correctly and he aint exactly Usain Bolt.

Fair point, thats your opinion which you are very entitled too, however on this occasion i disagree and would go with Gardner as not only do i think Brown would be better at CB, i also think putting him at RB after a huge injury lay off may be a bit of an ask. Giving him a cameo at CB alongside Roberge (who could do all the running for him) would be in my opinion the safer option.

Both good opinions well made but I agree with Poolie I would rather Brown at CB and Gardner at RB.

He was class that game mate, im not disagreeing that. I love Brown as a CB as he would run through a brick wall for you (not very fast mind you :p). However, the disagreement isnt whether or not he is/was good, its down to does he have any pace and suitable for RB. I would say Gardner may not be the quickest but he is more likely to bomb down the wing and give us some attacking threat and track back a lot better as opposed to Brown. If we are using Liverpool as an example, Gardner had a pretty good lil run against Liverpool at the SOL this season when he skinned 3 people and set Fletcher up.

Class interview that, points i took from it were

    1. westwood is starting tomorrow
    2. Giaccherini is gonna be mint but dont expect too much too soon
    3. JOS is club captain
    4. PDC is learning quickly by adding 'obviously i wont tell you everything' when discussing his business
    5. Sign a couple of fullbacks and i will be very excited

The Liverpool game wasn't a example but in the time brown played for us I can't remember him getting done for pace. Gradner is better going forward than brown but anyday of the week brown is miles better at defending. all about opinions tho pal.

Anyway it's Gym time. talk soon lads.
