Red - please don't stop posting, we want your views as well. Be pretty boring if we all agreed on everything
It's perfectly simple MITO. Statements made in and to the media are simply that. They do not constitute the truth or anything close to it. Quotes are used to confuse as much as to clarify. To therefore state that apparently conflicting statements prejudice our strategy in relation to a player is very simplistic. The market is dynamic with a morass of differing interests. LFC have stated that they have a corporate objective as to how the club should be run and committed themselves to the principles of the fair play rules. Therefore it would be more than a little embarrassing for our club to then make signings that would appear to fall outside those aims - even given the caveat that money could be made available in particular circumstances. Therefore, the mists that surround Reina and Suarez are more likely to be there for a purpose rather than indicating a degree of incompetence by our management.
Thats fair enough. My thought is that we should be able to tell when something is a party line, as suarez case is (and as i said handled well as possible in my view) and when something is a real position. you are quite right about the transfer market being just that. I think i made a point last week that I left at the time that seeing reina handled this way would make clubs like real think we were an easy touch. However that aside as its not relevant today I can see your point about balancing the books and presume it refers to mingolet coming in and then reina going out aligning with FFP? Does that not align with what i also said this morning in supposing that the evidence in terms of actual deals points toward us buying as we have other deals lined up? If it does why not suppose for now as a theory that We won't buy a marque player until suarez is sold. After all "twist the theory to the evidence, not the evidence to the theory" is what i quoted. If we do make a 20mil buy and don't sell suarez or at least try to hold onto him unitl whatever events might occur late on then that would be different evidence and the theory would have to be changed. Again only questions.... Thank you for expressing the view. I think its probably more realistic or worldly than mine perhaps as I just don't like being "lied to£ as it raises a smell of G&H and such in the back of my mind. that is an irrational thing I know..... but the club worked very hard to state its position with fans.... things like no promises, we'll tell you the real story when there is one on the stadium, the fans committee and so forth. this is why rodgers saying one thing when mingolet was signed and a totally different thing when reina doesn't travel felt to me like a lie was told i hope this expresses why i feel the way i do about it in any case and I think i understand your view on it now.
me... nah i'm a souless ****hound who never tells jokes... oh i can't rememebr eaxactly what i said to RHC last week to try and get a rise but it was something like that.
It is a complicated and murky world RP but you also have to take into account the recent history of our clubs transfer dealings too which is frankly piss poor. I don't for a minute believe this has all been pre planned to muddy the waters, I think it highlights the naivety of everyone at the club. New owners with no knowledge of the sport and said murky dealings, still no direct link on the ground this side of the pond from FSG and a young manager who yet again is looking like the proverbial rabbit in the headlights. Granted I'm still very much in favour of the old school "do your business behind closed doors" philosophy but even in todays modern world of mass, instant media (where I appreciate Rodgers is being asked for comment on a daily rather than monthly basis) I am amazed to hear a manager publicly talking about a players wages. To do it only days after very publicly stating he'd signed a new keeper as direct competition makes him look like a bit of a biff. It's wrong and IMO could impact on players opinions of the manager both at the club and with potential signings.
You went a while before posting again, thought we may have scared you off with our mass support of mito. All good
Ryan Babel on Twitter talking about Erikssen..... @RyanBabel: In my opinion its LFC who have to make the real effort to get him, then i'm confident for a good ending. #LFC
God we're usually linked with every player under the sun. Where's all the crappy rumours?? I need something!!
Jeez, it's like reading through a bunch of essays. Where do you bunch of ****hounds find the time? What actual transfer news do we have?
