Really getting worried now about any incoming transfers after reading a bit in todays Sun saying we'd turned down a bid for Williamson and Pardew commenting he's got a big future at Newcastle.
Please, please make this one story that doesn't turn out to be true as Williamson has as much of a future as a PL defender as I have.

I think Mike Williamson is a decent squad player.

You wouldn't want him in the side every game, but he's got enough to fill-in to cover an injury.

With Perch gone, we're really short of cover.

L'Equipe reporting that Spurs are in for Gomis now. We've took too long again and we could very well miss out on another target.

I'm not so worried about this while he's 4th choice, but if we get 2 injuries / suspensions across Colo, Saylor and MYM at the same time then I might be. Would ideally like a CB who will challenge for a starting place, but then we'd have somebody who is unhappy. Willo seems loyal enough to fight for a place he knows he won't get if everyone is fit & available. So a great squad player, so long as he's not relied upon for a long run of games.

More concerned about getting in a striker (or two) and a winger to keep Jonas out of the team.

4th choice he is fine. I think if Pardew manages the other other 3 correctly, thye should be able to limit the number of games he plays. Plus you have young Streete. I said earlier in the window, even if we sold him, bought no one and promoted Streete I wouldn't complain. I fully understand Colo is 30 plus and Saylor injury prone but we almost managed previously with just Colo, Saylor, Willo, Perch when we had no Europa. We now have MYM too. I don't think we can whinge too much on the centre half front.

I do think we are a full back light having sold Perchino and Raylor out for the season. Obviously we have Debuchy, Santon, Dummett, Haidara. We lack that utility player who could have filled in on the right if both Debuchy and Santon were out. The key thing we need to worry about is strikers. Two of them pronto.

Honestly, I think mentioning this stuff while the striker stuff is as it is, is ridiculous. Cisse possibly on his way, Shola next in line as first team strike choice. Going into a season that is just suicidal. Imagine if S*nderland had lost Fletcher before the start of last season, that's the kind of situation we'll be in if we don't get at least one person in, preferably 2 or 3. I agree with you on the Willo front though, I'm happy as long as he's warming the bench 1 game in 6 while Saylor or Colo are suspended or whatever.

There will be a long list of players we nearly signed.
We're doomed and will sell all of our best players and get relegated.

I was looking at the first six fixtures of next season and if the team doesn't pick up at least 7 points (the three home games are all winnable really) things could get even more ****tier. Nearly three weeks until the new season and still no players in. I literally can't believe we haven't even attempted to bring reinforcements in or then bleat on about 'targets' and never seem to get them. I can us bringing in one striker now, it will most probably be Bent. We will then sell Cabaye and promise to spend in January. It would be really funny if it wasn't so ****ing depressing

I heard he started up front. He likened his display to Pele in his pomp with a sprinkle of Maradona, a dash of Eusebio and Cruyff thrown in for the craic.

Exactly how do the transfers work now - does Carr identify them and they have to get the ok from both Kinnear and Pardew?
