I see where you are coming from: My original comment was just that these are rumours - it might all be in place and everything is fine. But because it hasn't yet gone through why not throw it out there that Napoli refuse to pay this that and the other. Easy story. I might be completely wrong and BR has bolloxed it right up - but I guess i'm just saying let's see if he has before jumping on stories.
MITO you can spin your theories anyway that you want. But stop trying to present them as fact. You have absolutely no idea what sale/purchase decisions have been made. Even when this window is closed we will not know what targets we were actually playing for and which were merely press speculation. At this time of year Plans A,B,C etc are all accompanied by contingency plans. No manager and no club is really going to tell you, me or any fans the truth - so why demand it?
He can't win. It seems clear that some people just don't take to him and whatever he says or does, some will be unhappy with it. If he said nothing, he'd be accused of being surly and uncommunicative or of not doing anything. Personally I think some of BR's PR is a bit clumsy and inept, but I still think that's all it is-PR- and you can't read too much into it.
Of course he can win! ----------------- “It’s good to have Luis and Seb Coates back,” Jones said. “Luis is a bubbly character. You always know when he’s about as you can hear him five rooms away! “Most of the boys were joking with him about his Uruguayan advert which we saw on the internet. “He just loves football – he lives and breathes it. “You saw him in training here, he’s like a little kid. He doesn’t want to stop, it’s like waiting for your mum to call you in. “He’s that type of character. “He’s never going to shirk any effort. We don’t expect anything less, no matter what’s gone on in the media. “He’s the same player we’ve been used to. Nothing has changed. “He’s still here and we expect it to stay that way. We all hope he stays as he’s a fantastic player. “I see no reason to doubt that.” ------------------ Brad Jones just won. Keeps things positive, reflects on the good atmosphere at the club between players, says Suarez is expected to stay and they want him to. Keeps his stock high. And if he leaves, well, things can always change in football. This is what Rodgers should be saying and then shut up about it. It smacks of inexperience at being at a club which are heavily reported and watched around the world.
Exactly. Its also quite possible this worsens his standing with the players too (and with potential signings). Another fine mess...so much for a man who learns from his mistakes.
I think it's worse than clumsy when you start discussing a current players wages though Saint. I'm sure that looks bad to every player at the club especially when that player is as popular around the dressing room as Pepe is.
Sorry mate but I think Rodgers has dealt with the whole Suarez thing superbly - what Jones has said is on the same lines as what BR said when he arrived there as well.
Maybe. I think we're all divided on how he's doing, but in the end, what matters is what happens on the pitch. I'd rather wait and see where we go this season before getting on his back every time he does something I don't agree with.
A point about Ancellotti. The other day he said he was not going to make any signings for Real this summer. When he took over at Chelsea he said he was not going to make any signings in his first year. He stuck to that and signed no one. He took a year to get to know the squad he had.
Gez - please can you help me locate the u21/reserve thread? The u18's played today and won 4-1 with Canos scoring on his debut.
I wasn't disagreeing about Suarez, I think that's been dealt with fine. My point with that quote was that Jones is saying what should be said about a certain issue, whilst BR is saying too much about another. Confusing to use Jones talking about Suarez, sorry, but I hope you see what I was trying to say. The point wasn't about Suarez, but about talking to the media in general.
Oh I'm not laying all the blame at Rodgers door mainly because out of the two of them I think Ayre is far more incompetent and buffoonish even than BR. No offence Saint but we had the same kind of discussions last summer and for all the "let's just wait and see" comments that appeared it was obvious that the transfer/PR **** ups would impact the start of the season. I'm seriously concerned that the same shambolic situations are occuring for the second summer window in a row.
I don't have any specific tools for finding a thread, I have to search the same as you would. There is a search facility on the forum page, try that
No chance, we have our replacement GK now and he is playing for us in pre season. Last year we didn't have Dempsey and shipped Carroll off - so in effect we have done the opposite to that this time around and still we're all moaning.
