Some of you may be interested in seeing Kei Kamara being challenged (assaulted?) just 5 seconds into yesterday's match against Real Salt Lake. No red card but the guy subsequently received a second yellow. Whilst the Premier League may be more physical than some of the European leagues, it must have seemed pretty tame if he regularly gets targeted for this kind of treatment.

Terrible, would have received a suspension in Ice Hockey.

That isn't a challenge, that's assault. Ridiculous with no intention of taking the ball.

How was that not a red card! Dreadful refereeing.

Ref Bottled it, didn't want to give a red so early on. Was a reckless challenge.

I was confused when I read here that "it should've been a fifteen yard penalty for a hit against a defenseless receiver."

Actually I still don't understand it. Separated by a common language!

They're equating the severity of the challenge to the likely punishment for a similar infringement in the NFL (with tongue in cheek). A fifteen yard penalty is a relatively significant punishment for the offending team in the NFL, especially considering the team benefiting would get 'a fresh set of downs' :emoticon-0110-tongu

Can you translate this for us too JK?

"This hit looks like a free safety lighting up a tight end who’s feeling too comfortable coming over the middle."

    <yikes> <ok>

Haha, I could do yes, although it may well destroy the amusement factor!

Dirty bastard, that's an absolutely shocking "challenge" that is, a real coward's manoeuvre as he knew Kamara wasn't expecting that.

He should be strung up <ok>
