I get it that you lot rate your manager but I would suggest he is way off the Barca job at this point in his career.
Well some of us know that, though it didn't stop PSG wanting him, or the fact that he turned them and others down, to stay at little old Swansea by the sea! He'll be here for at least this season, maybe more, who knows, and then we'll get the next manager, who will fit our passing philosophy............ The Swansea School of Footy managers!.............................. Kenny Jacket @ Wolves Martinez @ Everton Sousa @ Maccabi Tel Aviv Rodgers @ Liverpool Laudrup @ Swansea What a production line, and we haven't finished the shift yet!.......................................
Get a grip. So if I have an opinion that means I dont know what I'm talking about? At least the post after yours offered some facts. I like your manager and think he has done a great job. I don't think he is not ready for a job like Barca, I may well be wrong.
I believe it's out of respect for Laudrups statements (wishing to stay at Swansea) that Barca and Real haven't gone more directly for Laudrup. He will eventually manage one of those Clubs. "I'm here now", is heard in Spain. They know he's a man of honor. Unlike noveau rich PSG, WHO believe everything CAN be bought. I'm sure if Laudrup had WISHED to go to either Club, he'd be a strong contender to get the job... What you write is plainly showing you know nothing of Laudrup and his reputation in Spain. You've seen him managing in Swansea, followed the row in the early summer and maybe saw a video on youtube. Check out the facts about his career, and you'll find his more than ready. He's the biggest name in this Club, and he has the possibility to choose his future, unlike many other players or managers...
Fair enough, I respect the fact that you know more about the man than I do. I know a bit about his career as a player and manager and have never seen a YouTube vid about him. I standby my thoughts though it would be a big step and that it would be too early in his career, he's young enough to stay at Swansea for a couple more seasons and continue to prove that he is a talented manager and then take a big (no disrespect) job like Barca or Real.
ANYBODY would find managing the very big Clubs of Europe a challenge. Furthermore if you compare Laudrup to Gerardo Martino (who IS he?), I can see who is ready and who took the big step up. This is a gamble by Barcelona, apparently supported by Messi. If it fails, they will rebuild the squad around Neymar and sell Messi (or at least change his status in the team). I feel convinced that Laudrup could be the man to do that task, and he could have done it already. Gerardo Martino is a stand in, unless, ofcourse, he has immense success - but I seriously doubt that. Barca is in a transitional fase: Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Valdez, Villa and maybe even Messi are over the top. IMO Gerardo Martino doesn't have what it takes to motivate these Guys further, OR the balls to take them off the pitch... This season may well become a (healthy?) low point for Barcelona!
I agree with luvgonso. Laudrup as much as I love him still needs to work on certain aspects of his job, he needs to improve his man management and maybe iron out his stubbornness a little bit. He is a massive potential talent..if he wants to be. He is putting in his time here to probably iron out certain flaws, one being that he never stayed anywhere lo g enough to cement his managerial cv, laudrup himself has admitted this as being one of the reasons he signed an extension(though I feel that was a curtusy to the swans,2 yrs still being his limit here) I personally think laudrup is the best manager we have ever had,no bullshit, astute guy with plenty of integrity and respect for his club and surroundings, if he fancies high pressure he will go to a big club,he is just as likely to not want to bother though
He is keeping the seat warm for laudrup while he has unfinished business with us for at least one season...
Seeing as Rodgers has taken over Liverpool with relative experience, do you not class that as a big job now then
