KPR posted earlier the years and what teams missed out, we did miss out on quite a few chances to win it and I think United missed a few as well. Check through the thread.
Well are his dates correct or not? It wasn't an opinion he just put what years an English team won the league or Cup in that ban. He probably had a dig in there but I think it was just, as united fans love to say, Facts.
They weren't opinions though. They were the dates we missed. Those are facts, even if they are from KPR.
Fakhts, ever since that damn rant I can;t stand that word now. Big pie in the face for Rafa, even though we didn't win the league because of silly draws and not beating the teams we were supposed to, still looked like Keegan rant mark II.
KPR's views, opinions, facts, beliefs and everything else are null and void. If he says up is up. UP IS ****ING DOWN. As is his stupidity.
So...the old format, prior to Champs League was easier to win. Yet...Liverpool shouldn't have won in 2005 because they finished 4th the year before and only champions should be allowed in (which, funnily enough, is what the old format was). Which is it then?
Actually, I'll answer my own question. Any year that Liverpool won was either an easy year, or they had the format all wrong. Yeah, that sounds about right...
Yeah, I actually agree with that, but you can only beat what's put in front of you. If you're Barcelona, you'd probably think it's easier now than it's ever been. The other issue however was with people claiming that Liverpool shouldn't have been in it in '05. In the old format they wouldn't have been, but then neither would United in '99. So you'll have to concede one of the points.
The thing is you could make it stronger still by allowing the higher ranked leagues more entry slots, with additional qualifying rounds. Not that many people would want that. But some teams qualify year on year and rarely win a game. They're just throwaway places that better teams could've been awarded.
and which world footballing giant of a team did united meet in the semi-final - ask in 10 years time has anybody ever heard of schalke
The comment about all the LFC players that have'nt won a league title since 89 pales into insignificance compared to the many more "utd legends" that are worse off, although some of them could possibly brag and show their division 2 title medals. During our time without being champions of England we've been champions of europe(not relegated as utd were)and won more honours during that time than utd did in their 26yrs in a coma. By the way,if football did'nt matter pre 92 who are those statues of outside OT?,and why is there a clock that stopped at the moment the Munich disaster happened also at OT?. You mancs are prepared to belittle the very people that put your club on the map so you can diss our achievements. sad really.
I heard they are the 2nd best supported team in Germany which is one of the biggest footballing nations. i suspect a few people will of.
ooh, your hard. "Its harder these days"? you never entered the CL as champions when you won it in 99,under the old format you would not have won the "treble". is that easy enough for you to understand?
Wonder how many times we would of won it under the old format during the last 20 years though. Didnt think about that did you. Sure our 2 wins wouldnt of happened but during the 12 seasons we were champions we would of had a much easier route to the final and would of won quite a few.
Of course i "thought about" that, but you obviously whilst thinking about champions of the smaller nations that would have been in the competition have overlooked the fact that the champions of Italy,Germany,Spain etc would have also been in it,so you're arrogance that utd "would have won quite a few" is misplaced.
