Saints have a young trialist with them in Spain. No idea of a name but was mentioned as a scorer in a training match via twitter.

I heard some rumours last week that we were expecting an 18 year old Ivory coast striker to have trial.

TheNorthLondonSaint wrote it on here. If that's your only source you should probably just forget it.

Also trialists come and go all the time.

It was just a family member of a coach. Seriously though, I knew Boruc would be handy up top.

Who the **** would think about tackling him, let alone saving one of his shots?

Exactly that...rubbish. He signed a contract extension recently and said that he wanted to finish his career here, so can't see him agitating to leave the PL.

On a serious note, I was told we're taking a Chelsea lad on an academy loan? Much like the agreement between us and Norwich over Will Britt.

Does it mean he's transferring or we are babysitting him?

Erm, I'm not entirely sure. Just heard he had been talking to us about coming here. The lad's name is John Swift.

I know that Fran, but this is Nigel who may have come calling. I'll go right off Adkins if he's aiming to take Rickie away.

The same things were written about Pardew taking him to Newcastle I seem to remember.

Newspapers always did this link with previous managers. We've had Spanish/Argentinian players linked to us because of Mauricio. Print enough names and they are bound to be right sometime.

It frustates me that there's no accountability for the media. They can manufacture sheer nonsense and there's no one to tell them off because there's absolutely no quality control. I appreciate that they have to fill column inches somehow, but surely the editors and writers should have some pride in their work.

It's utter drivel. Why would he ever leave us!?

I would not be the least surprised if Lambert was poached by Reading and with club now increasingly looking to Europe and South America forplaying staff, I think that Lambert won't be our only English player looking over his shoulder. I would be curious to see how much Lallana and Cork feature in Pottechino's plans too. Lambert would be an excellent acquisition for Reading and you can unstand why the press sees that is such a good fit.

I would be gutted to see Lambert leave yet the "modern game" seems to need to be played by continental players at the highest level because British players simply aren't good enough. Lambert has been a revelation for Saints and has grown as a player to become a true Saints legend. I would be saddened if he left as he has been a loyal servant and served the club exceptionally well. That said, you do wonder just how much the "old fashioned English centre forward" is valued in today's game.
