Reports are suggesting that the transfer fee of around £5m was accepted(as we all know) however we are now very close to finalising personal terms with Hooper! So can we expect a deal done in time for the usual Thursday announcements!?
I like the way Harry is doing business and the sort of players he is bringing in. I think we will see a few more and I am sure we will have the usual flurry in last hour so Sky can get their drama on SSN. One does wonder how much of it is actually staged!
But Hooper has gone back to Celtic and is in the European League Squad for tomorrow nights match...DOES NOT MAKE SENSE...imho
Whats more exciting, the impending arrival of the royal baby or the impending arrival of hooperman??? People on facebook are saying we have signed both Hooper and Austin. Don't know if true.
QPR are closing in on the signing of Gary Hooper from Celtic. The Londoners have fought off keen interest from premier league sides Norwich and Hull, who both had bids rejected for the forward. Rangers offered £5m for the striker and are believed to be concluding personal terms. Hooperâs Celtic side are traveling to Belfast for their Champions League qualifier against Cliftonville but have left the striker behind as this transfer saga rolls on. The Bhoysâ assistant manager Johan Mjallby said that he was suffering a groin strain but he later admitted that the Râs had made a new transfer bid. In his three year spell at Celtic Park he has scored eighty-two goals and has guided the club to two Scottish Premier League titles, two Scottish Cups and of course the last 16 of the Champions League last season. Celtic manager Neil Lennon admitted that it would be very difficult to persuade Hooper to extend his contract, which has one year remaining. In an interview last week, Neil Lennon said, âHe has not featured much in pre-season and the games start in earnest for us on Wednesday night. So heâd have a bit of catching up to do and I donât know where his mind is at the minute. Has he played his last game for Celtic? Never say never but itâs looking more and more that way.â
I think that article may have been from last week? They played in Belfast last week I think. Its their home leg this week.
Old article, may still be apt but a week is a long time in transfer dealing and wheeling (Harry doesn't like that expression)
Celtic don't want to sell him so it makes perfect sense that he is in their squad, they will put out their strongest team until the players are confirmed gone, works well for us if he plays and we still get him as its a competitive game under his belt pre season!
He will still end up in the prem. Can't see him dropping down to the championship in a world cup year ! Sorry but I still think we'll sign him.
It takes too long, he probably moves to Norwich or stays in Celtic. Norwich have already spend heavily and now they want Hooper. They splash 8,5 million in that winkelsvonkel bloke and now they are suppose to spend 5 million more to get Hooper. Wheres that going to lead those always so sensible and moderate canaries?
