So... Crawley sign Scott Davies. Crawley sign John Akinde. Crawley sign Wes Thomas.

They must have a few quid then.

And so much for Scott Davies saying League 2 was beneath him... that's obviously UNLESS there's loads of wonga involved.

Thank god he won't be playing for us next season, we don't need people like him.

Donnelly and Davies play in the same position so it is fair to compare the two. However, Davies is such a prima donna and tries so many out of this world balls, and although he may be able to score from 50 yards, his poor attitude is bad for the team. Donnelly however can work with the team and his fanciful play is usually a lot more productive. Therefore, if we get Donnelly, I couldn't give a crap where Davies goes.

I didn't want Davies to sign for us, but not sure what he's done to deserve this stick. My understanding is that he simply didn't get any offers from league one clubs (including us) and therefore had to take the best offer available to him given that he was a free agent.

I'm not particularly saying he's a bad person as such, and he is a good footballer, its just that he's not right for our team. Also, the money was clearly a big incentive, as he had previously said that he thought he was too good for league 2.

So, it's a good time to be a Crawley fan. Promotion from the conference to League 2 and heavy investment again in the playing squad.
It wouldn't surprise me to see them get automatic promotion again to League 1 bearing in mind the team they are accumulating.
    However!!!
Will the bubble burst when they reach a peak and have a couple of years of mid table mediocrity?
In all seriousness, if a certain someone gets bored with being stuck in league 1 for two or three seasons, will the the play thing become a toy that gets left at the bottom of the cupboard?
I hope not for the fans sake, but you could see a club like this spiraling in to administration a few seasons down the line. Not that we are in any great shape to hold the moral high ground!!!

I agree, he's not right for us and I would much prefer Donnelly. This isn't premier league though, league 1&2 players still need to pay the bills and provide for the family.

I don't blame a player for signing for Crawley, it's the club that are annoying me. Will be interesting to see how long this lasts for them and how they get around the league 2 maximum wage compared to turnover rules.

Hats off to Crawley . Jealousy is a bad thing yeah I would like the money to spend on players but least they have gone about it the right way rather than what the franchise dons did.

Did we all moan about fulham when they were in division3 (at that time) and invested heavily to eventually get to the prem ?

On the whole Davies thing, I don't think we have room for him in the team. Bloms Harding Lewis and one other fighting for the cm role which fingers crossed will be Donnelly.

Just to clarify I was not moaning about Crawley on this thread, I for one wish them the best of luck this season and I have never met another supporter who wouldn't wish for a sugar daddy to arrive with buckets of cash, I for one would welcome it at Wycombe (oh hang on Steve Hayes is that man isn't he ha ha). My gripe was with Scott Davies, either he's too good for League 2, or he isn't.... nothing else should come into it. With him, money came into it. It's just a bit sad really, of course he needs to provide for his family etc, and if he had said that I would have retained respect for him, but basically, he's a judas now. JUUUUDDAAAAASSSS

Not sure how Davies is a judas when it was us that didn't want him! Saying he was above league 2 has come back and bitten him on the arse though. I don't think he's good enough for league 1 at the moment, but a full season of competitive football could help him return to form.

As for Crawley, it's the dodgy funding to buy the league plus the convicted criminal manager that bothers me about them!

Davies was over-rated IMO. Nothing against the chap but he was a bit of a show pony. I think it is funny that he was above playing in L2 but now he has no-where to go and a club with a load of cash interested, he's all for it. On the subject of moaning about Crawley, I happily will. I'd HATE it if that happened to WWFC. Im not a Man Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal fan by any means but give me them over Chelsea, Man City or even MK Dons anyday - teams who have bought their way to success and have their recent past and long term future dictated by money. I agree with the notion that Crawley will prob be in administration in 2 years time when L1/2 mid table obscurity has lost its novelty and the owner does one (Gretna, Notts County, Weymouth anyone?) and to be honest I couldnt care less if they are. You live by the cash, you die by it. Simples.

As fans who know whats its like to see their team come from non-league drifters to a secure professional league club by hard work we should NOT be applauding Crawley, we should be giving a standing ovation to AFC Wimbledon.

Why is Davies getting all this flak? How does anyone KNOW he went to Crawley for the money? I think it's a good move for him - a club on the up, a very strong squad which will almost certainly do very well next season, and a relatively local side to boot. Will Crawley's wealth have come into it? Probably, but I'm sure there were other factors involved as well.

The promotions of Crawley and AFC Wimbledon couldn't be more different. A club that went through hell and triumphed through sheer will and hard work versus a club who bought it. I honestly don't know if I'd enjoy it if Wycombe did a Crawley. Every fan craves success but I would much rather earn it the AFC W way.

JS the only reason he is getting this flak is when we tried to sign him before he said he didnt want to play league 2 football. now he has joined newly promoted Crawley???

I'd give my right leg for Wycombe to sign either Akinde or Thomas, Crawley also have Tubbs up front, they are surely odds on for another promotion??

Not sure about Akinde. He didn't exactly pull up an trees on his last loan spell with us and I don't believe the gasheads were overly complementary about him after his few months there.
