agree about spurs current badge - very swish. stoke's and fulham's are dire and lack imagination and class. as for our badge - i think its ok, pretty clean and has stood the test of time quite well - it still looks modern even though it was designed in 1972. having said that, i'd quite like to see it updated and become a more stylised version but still incorporate the lion and castle (coat of arms) in some way. ps. ours is the only badge in the premier league which doesn't either feature the name of the club or its initials.
I have no desire for whole sale changes but I do like the look of both Liverpool last season and spurs having dropped the sheild and just using the bird on the ball, would be harder to incorporate the castle and lion though
Yes it's been so over designed its drifted from the original idea, they've tried to be different but it looks like something from Clipart.
swansea changed their badge last season for their centenary and it looked much nicer. should have kept that!
i was most intrigued by chelsea's original badge with a pensioner on it. ipswich should have had that last year!
It looks like some World War One propaganda poster 'Become a Hero and beware of the Hun'. how about one of their players on the floor being beaten up by two goons with a horse racing track in the background? The middle Norwich badge is like a Homer Simpson canary so glad we've got our current one. Always liked the lion on ours, it looks like a cross between the face from the horror film Sinister mixed with the facial expression of the people in the Jarrold stand when someone makes a noise.
Our current badge looks good but the clubs general graphics can be dreadful, did anyone see the US tour image it looked terrible and all the graphics that are used on videos on the website look poor too, where is some areas the club is really professional, the away kit launch for example, I wish they worked harder on these elements.
Yellow and green are difficult colours to use as a dominant scheme to make look good for modern presentation.
You are probably right. Aviva, for instance, whilst paying homage somewhat to the yellow and green, dominated their logo with blue.
To be honest I'm not fussed about the use of colour, i think we have a very strong brand identity and are insantly recognisable as no other team in the country uses ourr colour combination. its when the club produces things like the USA tour banner which just doesn't look professional the font selection and use are all terrible, i think we could look really good if we had less of this and more of the away kit style marketing, and a comprehensive style used overall. please log in to view this image
Does anyone remember that football cartoon The Hurricanes? Well that's the San Jose badge. Portland are trying to keep up the heritage with the logging industry of North Western America, but it looks more like some naff heavy metal band logo.
I suspect it's also a case of how much effort is each project worth. For a kit launch, how good the promo material is will have an impact on how well the kit sells, and therefore it's worth spending a bit more on to get it right. Except us arguing here, I don't think many people could give two hoots what a logo for a unimportant pre-season tour looks like, and I can't imagine it'll change the number of US based Canaries looking to go. I'm completely guessing, but it might deliberately have a more 'American' style to it, as it might be more aimed at Americans.
I actually really like the Swans most recent logo. Big change but I think they've done it well. Can't please everyone though, i accept that. Norwich is a modern classic. I know there was chat about an update a few seasons ago but I 'm very happy with it. I wonder what we'd get though if the Swansea agency got their hands on it?
thats just a horrible poster though. I could do something better in clip art in 10 minutes, which means theres plenty of work experience kids who could do it much better in 5. It doesnt need more time spent on it, just better judgement. The only thing that poster is missing is clipart!
Unlike most people on here, I really like the Swansea one - it's my favourite in the Prem. I understand those who are saying it is over-designed, and I have to admit it looks more like a media company than a football club. Even so, I personally find it elegant and stylish. I think ours is pretty good, too. Like lots of people, I hate the Fulham one. Someone called it 'naff' and I think that sums it up perfectly.
