As many people on every board are saying clichy is going to leave, ill actully be happy because based on this season evertime hes touched the ball ive been scared to death hes going to lose it, so we might get a good 5-6m for him as its his last year so as i feel we shouldent buy a lb as it could harm gibbs devolopment so i feel this shiuld be our back four. Sagna-----Samba-----Djoure-----Vermalean (excusse my spelling) That would give us much needed strength and height at the back as all the 4 are good from corners and free kicks. a team which i feel is actully possible for wenger could be: Schanzyy Sagna-----Samba-----Djoure-----Vemalean Song Wilshere-----Fabregas Walcott Van Persie Falco excuse my poor spelling
Clichy was just talking on arsenal.com about how we have to improve for next season. This surely means he plans to stay
Laurent Koscielny > Johan Djourou Far better on the ball and also a much better sweeper which you need if you are going to play next to someone like Samba. Kos has made some mistakes but he has not had many bad games like Johan has. Also never forget this was Kos first season in England.
Yehh but Djoure would be much better then koshennlyy at free kicks and corners but we have samba so i think we could use kosienly
If Samba is playing, put Koscielny there, but in all honesty if Vermaelen and Djourou can get to know each other (playing wise) during pre season, then that would be an immense partnership, because the only thing Samba has that Djourou doesn't is experience in the PL, which Djourou gained this season. Buy a LB and have: Sagna---Samba---Vermaelen---*Someone*
I would say its the other way around, Djourou makes less mistakes and is far more of a physical presence.
Johan was shocking against Stoke and Bolton. Kos might make the odd blunder but he never has a shocker of a game like Johan had. Also he has an excuse in that this is his first season in a new league and country. And the Prem has to be the hardest league for a defender due the physical test of our league. Johan has no excuse for his performances against Stoke and Bolton. He might be more of a physical presence but Kos is way better on the ground so a combo with Samba will be a dream. According to Barca fans i know he has impressed a lot of people in Barcelona with the way he defends on the floor. And you know what that means.
Koscielny is so underrated it's unreal. I think he's better than Vermaelen. People are talking like Kossy makes mistakes week in week out. He made a few minor mistakes at the start of the season, and one in CC final, other than that I can't think of any other mistakes he's made? He's great on the ball, he's a magnificent tackler, he's good in the air, his positioning is great and he's very aggressive. I think he'll be the best CB in the league soon.
Sakho and Vermaelen pairing feels too similar, it's always best to have a right footer and left footer. Nasri cannot play on the left never mind the middle.
Samba is likely, him and Djourou to be the "physical" CBs. Djourou needs to get in the gym over summer and add a bit of power to his height. Kos and Vermaelen to rotate as the smaller, ball-playing CBs. Kos's tight man marking is fantastic, so against teams who play one up front he's the man to mark him out the game. Against more physical teams - newcastle etc. I'd play Vermaelen as he's stronger and has more of that "committed" attitude to him. Against long-ball teams (Stoke) you could then play Djourou & Samba, play less of a high-line and deal with the aerial challenge easier.
not by a long shot. a lot of people seem to like him, and i think he could fit in well. i bow to the arsenal scouts and their greater knowledge however.
The problem with Koscielny is that he likes to take a backseat. He doesn't vocally inspire his fellow defenders, but he could make the perfect foil to the right man beside him be that Vermaelen, Samba or AN Other. But certainly not Djourou who is far too mentally weak and indecisive.
i wouldn't necessarily say that about Djourou. he was fantastic for a large portion of this season and his partnership with Koscielny put Arsenal right in contention for the title. he has fantastic ability and could turn out to be a very solid CB. he is only young and will progress year on year. the experience this year will have done him a world of good and he was never meant to play so many games, he was due to be backup after recovering from a year out with injury.
