Is there any point in the Watford transfer embargo?

Watford confirm permanent signings of seven Udinese players.

Under the "embargo" they can't sign players without the permission of league officials, but aren't expecting any problems which means they probably have permission. Utterly ridiculous that they can allow this blatant dodging of the FFP rules. No doubt they will be at/near the top of the league this coming season, but I personally hope they get beaten in the play-off finals.

But they haven't broken any rules, you obviously know absolutely nothing about their situation, yet insist on spouting misinformed accusation! Learn before you speak or you will be found silly!

Canary - i agree they havn't broken any rules. The farce is the the FA who have allegedly put an embargo on Watford, but have left it open that they can still sign players with their prior approval. It has still left a very bitter taste, and i think what Watford have done is totally unfair and unsporting -albeit within the rules. I want them to have a crap season purely because they are trying to get into the premiership the "easy" way - borrowing a shed loads of players from better teams - it's wrong (in my eyes) and immorral!

You see, that's my point, there is no embargo, it is simply that they need to get approval from the FL that any transfer money is available and is paid to the proper party, this came about because their previous owner had syphoned off transfer monies to his own account!

Well, if there is no embargo, then the media and BBC are telling lies...

You are right, the BBC have got it wrong and this is where people are being mis-informed! Look up the FL's ruling, I'm sure it's on line somewhere!

Sorry to disappoint JWM, try not to dig when you're already in a hole!

The BBC are just ill informed and prone to making stupid headlines as per usual

The Football League ruling is out in the public domain and relates to the transfer of Danny Graham to Swansea under the previous owner Laurence Bassini who was a complete incompetent clown.

Nothing to do with FFP, nothing to do with loans. It was a section 19 embargo which meant before transfers were finalised the Football League had to be sure that funds were in place and paperwork completed correctly.

8 transfers have gone through plus another two today. All scrutinised and above board.

Could also be when you run around like a 5 year old going "oh he said this, and he said that".

It was said in response to someone who had found and addressed a thread on the Leicester board! It's very upsetting to be called cheats when it is not true!

Fact 1 - They obvious did cheat because why else would the FA take any action

Fact 2- I reckon the thing that wind people up the most is that is a punishment, that isn't actually a punishment.

The FA took action on the basis of something that happened under a previous owner. Basically he pocketed some of the cash from the Danny Graham transfer in 2011 and that was when they said any signings in the close season could not take place without the approval of the league.
