Did he struggle in the Championship? His goal-scoring record says something different... Probably not BPL level though
Fryatt has shown he is more then capable of scoring at Championship level and even though I doubt he could make the step up to the prem, I thought that last time we went up about players like Dawson and Ashbee and they proved me and many others wrong just like I hope Fryatt does
Dawson was too one-footed and struggled to pass forward. Ashbee brought a lot of effort, but could only pass side-ways or backwards and kicked people.
If we get Sagbo and Gedo, that'll probably do it for strikers. I think Brucey rates CJM (who is a striker but can also play wide attacking roles), so he'll be on the fringes if he continues to impress. Fryatt I think will do a decent job as an impact player; he came in halfway through our first Championship season and finished as top scorer with 9. He was then our top scorer with 16 in the next season. If people are rating him on a few appearances last season when he was rushed back from injury, then they're fools. I think we need a couple of wide options to cover Elmo and Brady if we are going with this 3-5-2.
I was initially refering to PattyNchips2, who said, I quote: "championship is his level, he even struggled then"...
And how many did he score before us? How many did he score at Leicester? 16 goals in the championship does not make you a premiership player, which is the discussion here. If you think it does, you need to get a grip.
He is a championship striker, he'll always get a few goals, even in the prem. He just doesn't have the quality to be a prem striker.
I still think we need another striker. We were crap in the Championship for scoring and we've only added Graham. Further recruits still required!
If we do get Sagbo, can we expect to see him with Graham up top? Maybe Aluko just behind? If so, then that is probably Boyd, Koren and Quinn on the bench (assuming we sign Palacios or similar).
Ashbee brought leadership to the team, he was what we lack at the moment. His footballing talent was never immense - he was like the John Terry of Hull. JT could play a bit but his main talent is the strength of character that he has.
the problem with Fryatt is that, with the service he had, his scoring should have been more prolific.
