I'm happy that Guly seems to be trying so hard to make an impression (seriously mate, no apologies needed!), and I'm even more happy that Isgrove and Turnbull seem to be getting a real shot at the first team. Exciting times.
Pretty bad that he feels the need to apologise. I'm pretty sure most people who actually understand football know he's a good player. I've just watched the highlights as well... two Palamos chances created because of Lovren, that's a good start.
So we've moved on from Guly to Lovren. Most fans appreciated Guly's qualities and consecutive managers have as well...just time for him to step up from reliable to find his true potential. He hasn't been able to play in his best position for some time...perhaps Mauricio can help him find his place. As for Lovren, it is only his second game. Always tough for defenders as they have to work as a unit...he's still learning.
They do have to work as a unit, but they were individual mistakes - it's still only preseason though of course!
I said to the very lovely Mrs Godders Guly scored a hat trick for Saints last night. She said "Oh! I thought we had sold him." "Over my dead body." I said.
Preseason is the best time to make mistakes. The next two games against better opposition will be interesting, though once again only friendlies designed to get the team ready for the season. I think last night will have made the team feel positive about themselves.
That would have been cruel. She would have been in tears for the rest of the day. I am a big softy. I will not let children and women get upset and cry. I can't cope with tears.
Probably because you said, "He'd be better much off doing laps of a track rather than playing a football match to improve his endurance." Training should be specific. Chris Froome needs mega endurance but I doubt you'd suggest he should be running laps. Same thing here. Anyway, I suspect they are all as fit as they have ever been.
I would think the training would be tailored to the individual player. The physios will know by now the weaknesses that each one of the players has and strucutre the training to suit. Given MP's desired style of play, they will need a combination of speed and endurance..

Punch (once he had crashed Luke's interview) said that their next two opponents had been in the CL...should provide us with a more realistic view of our position in the world.
