So the Football League made some changes to Loan rules this summer.
Watford have just signed four of last seasons Udinese loanees on Free Transfers.

And I suppose at the end of the coming season, they'll all get free transfers back to Udinese?
    What a bloody shambles!

If they were going back to Udinese at the end of the season, why have all players signed deals to 2016/17/18 (Cassetti excepted, but he's 36)? Surely, if the intention was to send the players back, they would have all signed one-year deals?

What a muppet, and thats being polite! Why would anyone sign a player on a 3yr deal only to send them back the other way after the first year? You need to stop smoking the wacky backy and come back to the real world!

We said for the whole of last season that loaning the players was only used as a short term means to an end because the takeover by the Pozzos was delayed. Watford always said that the players who cut the muster would be signed on permanent deals, and what do you know? They have been!

We have not done anything wrong, and its clear that we haven't broken any rules because the FA and FL have ratified these transfers, so are obviously happy they are legit.

Maybe his time spent abroad in the sun has fried his brain and diminished his understanding of the English language - doesn't appear to understand the meaning of the word shambles....

Would you like to say where your info that they were free came from? No one has said, so I would like to know if you have a better source than I have.

To comply with HRMC & FFP rules of course. Remember them - the two things that got your knickers into a real twist? ;)

Well well well - an article started by a Bristol City fan on our forum, backed up by a Leicester City fan - both claiming to be all knowing but actually are just boring.

Oh and by the way what do Bristol City and Leicester City have in common - they are both has beens' dropping like a ton of bricks - soon they'll be able to moan to the Kenil Club cos that's who they'll be playing!!

Incredible the amount of people who have hopelessly misunderstood the whole situation with Watford, both regarding the transfer embargo and the transfers from Udinese. Quite funny actually!

Ignorance is bliss, and there's a lot of delirious opposition fans out there. I have to say, I find the attention we are getting from opposition fans highly amusing, especially as I couldn't give a monkeys toss about their teams.

    For the benefit of those who do not speak Portuguese, here is the English translation;

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/transfers/
    19 JULY
Almen Abdi [Udinese - Watford] Free
Scott Allan [West Brom - Birmingham] Loan
Gabriele Angella [Udinese - Watford] Free
Scott Arfield [Huddersfield - Burnley] Free
Nicky Bailey [Middlesbrough - Millwall] Free
Cristian Battocchio [Udinese - Watford] Free
David Bell [Coventry - Notts County] Free
John Cofie [Manchester United - Barnsley] Free
Ben Davies [Preston - York] Loan
Jamie Devitt [Hull - Chesterfield] Free
Diego Fabbrini [Udinese - Watford] Free

You are all missing the point; It is illegal to own or have majority financial interests in two or more clubs within the same country. Why? Because that situation is deemed to be one that could lead to a conflict of interest when the two clubs meet in a competitive fixture. Yet it is allowed for the same owner to have clubs in more than one country.
So Watford fans think on this one. You win promotion to the Prem at the end of this season.
The following season you win the FA Cup and enter the Europa League where you are drawn in the same group of four with Udinese, Granada and Motherwell.

How will you feel if it is then made public that the owner of Udinese, Granada and Watford has decided that he wants Udinese to be the group winners with Granada second and that is what happens. You will never be certain that all the games were played honestly and without "dirty dealings".

Beware Hornets, those insects in the nest may yet come out and sting you all for your naivety. You have seen the "rebranding" of the Bluebirds of Cardiff. How will you be rebranded when your Italian godfather decides. Maybe he will move you like Wimbledon FC to another place in England; the sixth biggest English City for instance?

PS; I have too much allegiance to my socialist roots to ever open the pages of the worst "newspaper" in Britain referred to above by my Portuguese amigo.

Because, genius, if they signed one-year deals then they would have the option to join any team they like for free at the end of the season, and the Pozzos lose out <doh>

Anyone who says this isn't blatantly bending rules is completely in denial. It speaks volumes that the only fans that think this is ok are the fans who's club is benefitting. Yes, ok you're working within the rules, but at the same time you're making a mockery of them.
It's completely against the spirit of the game which despite not being in any rule book, still annoys people and rightfully so. Watford are the only team in England that would have been able to strike these deals for the fees (or non-fees) involved.

Totally unfair and although I don't deny I'd be happy if my team got promoted that way, I'd always know that it was a bit of a cheat and that's how it would be remembered. Nothing to do with building a team in a more honest way.

Simple, it doesn't matter to the Pozzos which club the player is at, they're signed to THEM for 3 years, at the end of this season one of them might decide to run down their contract, but instead of it only having a year left it has 2 and the Pozzos can say to them that if they want to run down the contract fine, but here's a 2 year contract for Granada, we want you playing there next season. Then after that year say here's a 1 year contract at Watford, we want you back there this season and then you're free to leave.

Your players effectively aren't contracted for 3 years at Watford, but for 3 years at any one of the Pozzo's clubs as they can just move them along as they please.

Primeira coisa que eu não sou, e eu agradeço deus por isso, Português.

Also you can see by my statement about multiple players moving from one club to another, however it is arranged, how easy it is to use a little information to disinform.

I'm sure if the positions were reversed the Watford fans would be looking on with jealous eyes and looking forward to yet another fight against relegation and/or bankruptcy/insolvency/administration. When Elton John came to the club there were never calls to stop what he was doing with his money, so why now? And why no outcry at what Crystal Palace did with Wilfered Zaha - football is littered with anomalies.

Surely it is all teams aim to get as high up the footballing tree as possible (if they deny it they are lying) and Watford have found ways, and these were and are within the rules, to do this without ruining the club financially.

If, by chance, any of the Pozzo teams met in European competition I wouldn't be too happy if there were "team orders", but that is a long way off and who is to say that once Watford have attained that level the team would not be full of Englishmen and national pride would take over. Yes the family might have a preference, but from the way they appear to conduct their business it will be for the best team to win.

And finally in some quarters we have been rebranded already - Udinese B.
