Gayle is from Peterborough scored 13 in 29 games for them. Cornelius was top scorer in Danish Premier League 18 in 28.
I liked DG, he misses a fair few chances but lets be honest here if he converted them chances then he would be a 20m striker, not a 5m striker. What you pay for is what you get. Hes definitely got goals in him and will likely to get into double figures if he plays regularly. Hes a good premiership striker, nothing more, nothing less. He will do well with you guys. As for crosses - dont bother, he cant head for ****! Get it into his feet, that what hes best at!
Plus Kevin Phillips, Jerome Thomas, Stephen Dobbie and Yannick Bolasie. You do realise 'attacking players' doesn't just include strikers?
And their defensive players? Our entire back line and half the fringe players would walk in their team. Guess this season will tell us whether a strong defence or strong attack is more effective in the prem. in any case, I don't think we're far behind, if at all, in attack anyway and we aren't finished yet.
We've gone from getting Hooper and Austin for £4-5m apiece to a loan signing and a bloke from Benin who can't score for toffee. Hardly inspiring ahead of the new season. In answer to your question about attack v defence, the answer is simple - do either well enough and you'll be fine. Unfortunately, whilst we may have a better set of defenders than Palace, we'll be playing a ******ed 3-5-2 with what can at best be called an OK-ish set of defensive players (and have virtually ****-all up-front to boot). Between us and Palace, it's a question of who'll finish 19th and who'll be rock bottom.
I'm glad we missed out on Austin for that price, I don't think he's anywhere near a £4.5 million player. Danny Graham is a better player from what I've seen of both so were already better off in that respect. I personally think Graham and Aluko are better than anything palace have in attack with bolasie equal with Brady, though I do think they have more depth up there than us. I wouldn't call our back line average, not for a promoted side, Figueroa is excellent, Davies is very good and we all know how good Chester can be, but were yet to see if he can live up to the hype.
City made me this way Oh yeah, who gives a **** if we spend little and poorly, embarrass ourselves, and come straight back down? It's as if we're not even trying. Indeed...
I admit I never realised how poor the rest of the division was. As I said, any other year we'd have been lucky to get sixth. If we'd stayed down I'd have said we needed serious improvements to the squad, so we definitely do to have a chance in the Premier League.
