Good to see that we beat Stevenage, despite the fact that we looked a bit rusty. Pre-season looks like it is progressing nicely. The tour to Italy looked like it went well, thumped a couple of scratch teams, shame not to get a proper friendly going against Nice or a Borussia Dortmund side. Having Peterborough and Grenada to play will see us build up nicely. Very positive about the season ahead!
I'm convinced that we are playing Grenada instead of Cosmos because the Nice match fell through, which meant we were playing one fairly strong team less than Zola would have liked. As you say, P'boro and Grenada continue the build up nicely.
Can't see it mentioned on the WO website BB, but you may be right. Edit: yes, it's on the club website, they are Working hard to find a new mutually convenient date. Obviously there isn't time before the start of the season.
I thought we looked very tight and composed against a side that at times looked to kick us off the pitch - the ref really tried to let it flow, but at times Stevenage where just a bunch of thugs. 3 players booked in a PSF? - very poor. Some of our new signings looked absolute quality on the ball - I just need to put a name to a face
When Westley is the manager you know they will be physical! Sounds like a useful warm up. I noticed of the fit younger players Murray wasn't in the squad - has he got a knock?
Murray and Almunia supposedly picked up knocks in training on friday. Uche has an injury as well, so does Ekstrand. Romero picked up a serious injury in Italy which the club are looking at currently and assessing how bad it is.
Would I be right in thinking that he will be the first Paraguayan to play for us? I can't think of any others...
i was like a clucky mother hen, i think i drove everyone bonkers with my excitement lol Not sure Cosmos will go for that now, judging by the article in the Daily Mail...hmm, but then again...
In case anyone is wondering..... #WatfordFC XI v Peterborough: Bond; Doyley, Angella, Cassetti; Anya, Iriney, Abdi, McGugan, Pudil; Deeney, Forestieri. subs: Schotterl (GK), Brown, Battocchio, Smith, Acuna, Murray, Faraoni, Fabbrini, Assombalonga, Mensah No score so far - 8.5 minutes played
McGugan is really playing well and is the "star of the show so far". Not being selfish as was being suggested he had been.
