    Who are Palamós CF?

Palamós CF means Palamós Club de Futbol. They are a Catalan football team from the small town of Palamós in Catalunya, a commercial port in the well-known Costa Brava. A 2001 census found that just under 16,000 people inhabit the town. The football club was established in 1898, making it the oldest club in Catalunya and one of the oldest in the entire Spanish league structure.

Football was taken to Palamós by Gaspar Matas, who had been studying in England and formed the club on his return. Their first proper fixture came against a team of Englishmen who came to Palamós by boat.

Palamós have spent the majority of their history in the fourth tier of Spanish football, which is where they are currently found. The Tercera Division is one division below previous opponents UE Llagostera. Since the formation of the current league structure, they have spent 6 seasons in the Segunda Division, 4 seasons in Segunda Division B and 14 seasons in the Tercera Division. Perhaps their most famous former player is David Belenguer, who went on to sign for Albacete, Extremadura, Celta Vigo, Real Betis on two occasions and Getafe - for whom he appeared over 150 times, including in La Liga.

The club spent six consecutive seasons in the Segunda Division before incurring a two-division relegation as punishment for financial irregularities in 1995.

They have contested two Catalunya Cup Finals, winning one and losing one. In the 1991/92 season they defeated UE Lleida 2-1. However, in the 1994/1995 final they lost to RCD Espanyol, who had signed Mauricio Pochettino in 1994, by a scoreline of 3-1.

Palamós finished 3rd in their league last season.

    Where do they play?

Palamós play at the Estadio Nou Municipal, in Palamós. The ground is capable of holding just over 8,000 supporters.

    What are the club colours?

Palamós' club colours are yellow and blue. They have sported numerous variations on yellow and blue stripes and halves in recent seasons.

This season they are wearing a yellow shirt with a thick blue stripe, with blue underarms. This is accompanied by blue shorts and yellow socks.

Did their fans have a hissy fit when they varied the colours?

Shows how there is fit and there is match fit. Morgan said that he was tired 10 min into the last game...these preseason matches are essential. Training alone is not enough...need the tension of a match situation even against lower opposition.

If he was tired 10 minutes into the game he hasn't been training hard enough. He'd be better much off doing laps of a track rather than playing a football match to improve his endurance.

Think it shows that games are just different from any training. Or they are over training...though on that point I am willing to concede that the coaching staff may (only may, mind you) know more than me;)

In a sense they should be 'over-training' now, so it doesn't surprise me that they are tired in a game. Don't forget that they were not trying to be at their peak for that last game or for a few weeks yet. So they should be working much harder now than they would be in the week leading up to the West Brom game. At that point they should be cutting back to preserve their energy.

So it would be wrong to they haven't been training hard enough and that laps of the track would be better than playing (although during their holidays that may well have been true).

How far is Palamós from their training camp? (I can see they're both in Catalunya, but just wondering how far they're travelling for these games...)

    Predictions anyone?
I'm going for 0-4 (to Saints) with Rickie, Jay, Adz and 1 of the newbies or youngsters on the scoresheet

Endurance based training is going to be much better than playing a football game for improving fitness levels. Pre-season games are essential to get used to new or modified tactics/formation, playing with new players and testing the skill-based parts of their game in a match situation etc. I was making a point about fitness. How you read into it that I would have rather them do endurance work instead at this stage is beyond me. If he was tired 10 minutes into the game then that is a worry. It was probably a joke or a big exaggeration though if he actually said that.

Saints to win 2/3 to 1. They will let a goal in, because they are Saints. Off to Austria tomorrow...think they will enjoy a change of scene.

There's a chance but it's unlikely. There's a lot more results coming up on google compared to the last game.
