HBA anyone? http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...-second-approach-newcastle-midfielder-201977? Not for me.
I think the whole Reina / Mignolet deal shows naivety in the market tbh. Reina's agent made Liverpool aware of Barcleona's supposed interest at the start of the summer & that his client would welcome the chance to got there. Liverpool obviously then set about lining up a replacement in the very capable Mignolet. However, after they'd completed the purchase, Valdes signalled his desire to stay on at Barca for his contracted year, Barca didn't want to force him out, so therefore - no vacancy - which has left Liverpool with a 'reserve' keeper on star striker money. Which is obviously not acceptable to the Yank owners & rightly so. The transfer market is always fluid, with many variables & often many deals are 'stacked' but rely on one major deal being the catalyst for the others to then complete. In this case Liverpool have jumped to early & have been left with a situation that they needed to resolve which allowed Napoli to come in & force loan terms, which is great business for them, not so great for you.
You can't judge keepers on just clean sheets. Hart was terrible last year, yes he kept clean sheets but mainly due to who he played for. You also need to look at the number of mistakes he made that contributed to goals and city fans will tell you there were a lot. You can't really use stats but if you do, you need to look at % of shots saved, both inside and outside box as wel
But what if he goes next year to Barca? Then everyone club would know we need a number 1 keeper which bumps the price up 3 or 4 mil and then everyone says 'well you knew Reina was going why didn't you replace him earlier instead if leave it to the last minute?'
Then the same principle would apply, you'd line up a replacement (as you did this season) agree a deal in principle, but wait until Barca moved for him before you completed on it. It's called 'common sense' mate.
That's not the point; the Mignolet part of the deal is fantastically well done, but why are we doing so much to accommodate what Barcelona's new manager might want a year from now? We should say to Barcelona they can buy him now from us or from Napoli in a year. Napoli have all teh monies in the world and instead of getting some we will let them spend it all then come back in a year claiming poverty and wanting Reina cheap.
thats a different point. you might have two but one plays mostly. given owuld not accept it at city but i nthe end he went off too. who says pepe would be on the bench? we don't know that but i would be of the opinion he would play... the future is just that. now is the important game and all that. If we'd bought minger and said nowt i think a SALE not a loan would be easier to accept. rodgers made out all was fine with pepe when patently it was not. a loan however is a stupid move for LFC. I've no issue with us buying knowing pepe was going and then letting pepe go.. none but we a) made out that was not the case AFTER buying when it would have been just as easy saying pepe's going nowhere and leave it at that if trying for best price. b) have loaned him not sold him so again... there was interest but no firm bid so we bought before we needed to it seems.... if there was real barca bid coming we would be selling the guy now. we've loaned a star, its patently obvious to me that he's now in the surplus category and clubs see that as bargain. c) our actions make, no matter what you guys think, the suarez defense insupportable. no club is going to think 40mil might shift him cos now its lfc are selling, lets stick in 30mil again and get to suarez to force it.
I think you've missed the point as well though. As do you not think it's likely that Reina himself has had a big part to play in why this is only a loan? As isn't it his long held desire to move back to Barca? He's obviously not prepared to give up on that dream & has said he won't move anywhere on a perm, & will only accept a season loan, in the hope that next season he gets the opportunity to fulfuil his dream. ALL of which has been made possible by LFC replacing him, BEFORE he'd been sold........as I said - naivety.

But it's still going to cost is a few mil more as everyone will know we need a keeper as Reina is off. Or what if they wait till the very last moment, then we either accept the offer and have no time to get a replacement, or we reject and therefore have a very unhappy keeper for the next 6 months.
LiverpoolFC News ‏@LFCTransferNRS 4m BR & Ayre will also map out to Suarez their vision to take the club forward & speak to him about signings they have in the pipeline. (ECHO)
Sánto (@Zizouology) 7/20/13, 2:32 PM Espn Brasil journalist Alê Oliveira has confirmed that Liverpool have made a bid for Atlético Mineiro's Brazilian youngster Bernard. #LFC
Me too, but it's the same "journalist" who claimed Bernard was close to joining Arsenal, so I'd take it with a pinch of salt.
